Hello,
Last summer bought my first jeep (a 2020 Jeep Willy) and love it.
It came stock - with BF Goodrich 33" M/T 2 tires (I understand they are actually 32") and I believe Rubicon shocks. I have added a steel front bumper, a winch, and rock sliders. It is my daily driver. I have taken it off-roading several times on trail-rides, to off-road parks, and beach drives/obstacle course. My intended use will be mixed use – daily driving with periodic off-roading and overlanding trips.
I would like to keep it fairly stock but am planning on added a rear steel bumper, a roof rack, auxiliary lighting, and a vehicle awning. I would like to lift the Jeep somewhat, without extensive modifications and without breaking the bank.
Is it correct that a 2-inch lift with 35" tires is the best compromise between on road manners, decent gas milage, and moderate off roading capabilities? Any recommendations on the above, as well as recommended equipment brands would be appreciated.
I am in NYC which often has snow & salted roads, so I undercoated the Jeep with fluid film. For me, the smell is horrible and took months to go away. Some of it was scrapped off while off roading and I will need to reapply. For the space in between the door panels I'm looking for something less smelly, any suggestions?
Finally, last weekend I noticed the paint near both hood latches appear to be separating from the hood (see attached). What is the best action to protect the hood? Should I chip off the paint and use touch up paint?
Thank you!
