Moving from MTs to ATs

I'm going to move from my current MTs to a set of ATs, primarily because I've realized I'll do more off-road fun related to the capabilities of ATs than the true mud work the MTs are built for. My current setup is 35x12.5x17 Wildpeak MTs which I'll sell and I'm considering the WRANGLER ULTRATERRAIN ATs in the same size. Any thoughts? I don't want KO2s because frankly I can't stand the white lettering and that seems to be your only choice in this tire size. So, thoughts on the Ultra Terrains? Anyone running them?
I have 35x12.5R20’s on my Silverado with no white lettering on the KO2’s.

How do you like your 35x12.5R17 Falken MT’s for you Jeep? I still have the stock 33’s and I am thinking of getting the 35’s in them over the BFG KM3’s.

They perform excellent in snow and slush. The AT3/W were engineered to perform in cold weather and excel.

I had KO2's and they do not perform well in any type of slush.
Hmm my own experiences with the KO2 in slush have been very good. I have both k02 and at3 and liked both.

My K02s now. 3 1/2 years old and 24,000 miles, 2 mild BOH trails. I'm a NO for BFG

They've been very good. Solid flat tread wear at 30 psi, no issues at all aside from the fact they are heavy and I really don't need them for what they are built for.

I went from Toyo MT's to Nitto Ridge Grapplers and haven't looked back. The Nittos have done everything I've asked off road and are near silent on road as long as you rotate religiously.

The Ridge Graps are also significantly better on snow/ice/slick roads. I have about 15k on them now, lots of rock/offroad and they haven't chipped out like the pic of those KO2's above. They're actually perfect other than treadwear.

I’m going to KM3s for my next tire, but NRGs are supposed to be fantastic. A few friends have run them on trucks and had plenty of good things to say.

I have run Toyo Mt, RT and AT 3's. Also have run Nitto Trail Grappler and Ridge Grapplers as well as several others through the years. Love the Toyo's and Nitto's on trucks or big heavy suv's. They are very heavy though and you feel the power loss compared to a lighter tire on smaller, lighter, vehicles. For Jeeps and lighter suv's I am a big fan of the BFG KO2's. I am on my 4th set. They work very good in my area. Desert with lots of sharp rocks and sand. I air them down to 10 psi in the sand. I like the BFG's for how light and quiet they are. I do DD my Jeep and my wife DD's them (97 percent highway for her) on her 4runner. The KO2 runs small. Running the 37 is really just running a large 35.5. I would not pic the KO2 for anything heavy.
No matter what tire I use I replace them around the 30,000 mile or 5 year time period. I never expect or try to get high mileage out of tires. Not worth it to me. Side note, not much mud or snow where I live. Lots of HEAT, sand and rocks.

That's weird. The guy I plow snow for in the winter runs them on 40 or so plow trucks. The truck I use runs them and hell I drive 70+ mph in snow and slush with zero issues. Plow a shit ton of snow and slush. I have never though that they did not perform well. I though they are amazing in snow and slush and never thought they lacked traction.

Not running those, but I've had 3 sets of BFG KO2's with no white lettering. You can order them that way. I only chose BFG's in the past because of reputation and warranty. BUT...there are quite a few others lately that give warranties too.

I think the 35/12.5/17 KO2’s only come with white letters but I just had them mounted white letters on the inside and it’s all good. I run KO2’s on my Ram Powerwagon and Jeep, sturdy and good in all weather until the tread wears down. I live in Colorado at 8500 feet elevation and drive to Southern California a couple times every year with wheeling throughout CO, UT, AZ and CA

Snow I never had an issue with and they handled well. It was literally just slush that I'd start sliding around.

I had the Falken Wildpeak AT3s on my Grand Cherokee and they have been my favorite AT tire yet. Swapped the absolute garbage Goodyear Wrangler ATs after the second set continued to chunk out at under 5k miles.

I got so frustrated with the KO2s on my JKUR that I switched back to MTs at less than 20k miles. My experience was they weren't great in ice and downright dangerous in mud and snow (I know others have different experiences, but I've had more uncontrolled backwards slides down trails with the KO2s than any other tire). They also only lasted a little longer than the KM2s before and I'll gladly give up the little bit of highway noise (not noticeable to me) and longevity for better characteristics everywhere else.

I've been running those Wrangler Ultrterrains on my '19 JLUR for some time and they replaced my OEM Factory Falken Mts. The Ultras are a really quiet , good in the rain and on the trails here in AZ. Not sure on mud & snow as we don't get that much in southern AZ!
