Sway bar disconnect? 18mm wrench and ratchet and 2 minutes of your time. Is anyone actually wheeling without disconnecting?

But yeah id take rubi on 33s over willys on 35s any day in terms of capabilities. Unless the willys XR had lockers. those lockers are huuuuge help. Wheeling the open difs on hard trails is not easy at all, requires lots of effort. The lower crawl ratio I can deal with, the sport and willys transfer case has a low enough ratio, with a bit of left foot technique you can get by. Having no lockers require a lot more skill. But id still rather have the lower crawl ratio than not obviously.

Lower crawl ratio makes it easier. But no lockers sometimes means youre gonna have to stack rocks and/or send it and risk body damage sometimes. And in some scenarios, although not very often, youll have to winch.

That rear LSD helps to close the gap a bunch. And in combination with BLD it acts almost like a locker a lot of the times. but the moment you lift a tire it does absolutely nothing. Been there done that. at a minimum you need the rear lsd + front locker + skill to have a chance to match the rubicon capabilities on a sport. Thats just reality.
If we are talking stock for stock, unbolting parts doesn't count. I can bolt on a set of 35's on a stock Rubicon in the time it takes to unbolt and bolt the sway bar back on a couple times.

Wouldn't the most capable Rubicon be dependent on the driver?
Put the same driver in each, on the same obstacles, in the same conditions? Nobody in their right mind would say a Honda accord is faster than a Lamborghini aventador, but I'm willing to bet randy probst could put down a faster lap time at laguna Seca in the Honda than the average guy off the street could in the Lambo?

If your jeep has 4 auto, it has cv's. I don't know about the future of the Rubicon, even my 89 xj with "full time 4wd" had cv joints. It's nothing new, they typically only run cv's on the full time/auto Jeeps for the last ~40 years.
I was actually just wondering about this the other day. If I we're to order a Rubicon with 2.0T Auto with the 4.1 Rock Trac full time 4wd I get CV joints? Interesting. I actually had a feeling that was the case since the 392 with full time 4wd had them.

The difference between any of the trims here is not Lambo to Accord. that's nuts.

Yes. A good driver would do perfectly fine in any of these. Good driver and good spotter.

Couldn't tell you the last time I used a spotter. Metal masher, cliffhanger, steel bender, the Dusy-Ershim, all run without a spot or pulling cable. Maybe you 2 door guys need more help?

A spotter could have gotten you through obstacles cleaner. Maybe that's why you scrape so much on trails people are doing on 33s and 35s and you are on 37s, and without needing a cable.

If you need someone else to get you through the trail, did you really get through the trail?

If you’re still learning or doing a trail for a first time I think it’s super helpful. But eventually I agree, you should go back and tackle it on your own.

I've used and/or been a spotter 100's of times. If we are wheeling an unfamiliar trail and come up to a blind obstacle, of course I'll get out and take a look. Some people way over use the concept is my point. Watching a guy spot his group on black bear pass, all I could think was how do they back out of their own driveway without crashing if they need a spotter on a graded dirt road?

If you dont tackle obstacles where a spotter is helpful youre not challenging yourself or the Jeep. Sorry but we dont have eyes poking out everywhere, and when you are doing something that requires skill because your rig might fall short you will need a spotter. I am talking about real rock crawling scenarios. If you cant see shit how the fuck are you gonna get through?

You pick your line. And let your spotter know what youre doing. The spotter is there to make sure you dont damage anything and to make sure your plan goes accordingly. you are picking the line and doing the driving. You are conquering that obstacle. If it doesnt work out the spotter either helps you get out of the mess or you go back and rethink your line. A spotter is there to make sure you get out of it without body damage or worst. I dont need to prove anyone how big my balls are, so yeah, I use a spotter to have eyes on the trail.

As of completing a trail successfully thats yours and nobody else to decide. Did you stack rocks? Winch? Maxxtracs? Lockers? Used a spotter?. Who decides lockers are ok but maxxtracs on open diffs arent? I dont get to decide. You do. You know your rig, your skills, and how much of a challenge it was. Ultimately the challenge is for you and your Jeep. You are conquering yourself and nature.

This is typical of forums. Big guys saying the crawl anything without a spotter (yet they winch) and new inexperienced guys giving advice on how you should wheel. Give me a break. i am done here.

Usually with the groups ive gone wheeling with its almost always 4 doors. Theres the occasional 2 door guy we end up having to wait for lol. J/k but it seems the two doors struggle a bit more than the 4 doors. But like i said, havent been out with many, theyre just so rare lol.

even more rare the manual trans guys. And it seems theyre often slipping and struggling to get up stuff more than the auto guys. but im sure they enjoy the challenge.

so yeah, transmission choice should be options in this poll as well lol.

Suprized to even see anyone voting for V8 version or Rubi. Since when bunch of extra weight and excessive power was neded for offroading ( for which wrangler ment to do).
V8 is Ultimate Malcrawler in my opinion, especially with exhaust.
