@MORTON - Fantastic write up with descriptions, thank you! Newbie question coming up ... where did you purchase the trim removal tool ... I searched Amazon and there were zillions of kits, I'm sure I don't need to buy a whole set. Can you link me to that red one you have, as it appears to be just the ticket, and I'll probably only ever use it for this project :)
Thank you for the kind words!

Unfortunately it is a part of a kit I purchased from amazon. All of the kits on amazon have the same 5-6 items with that tool pictured being 1 of them. I went on amazon and just typed ā€˜auto trim removal kit’ and purchased the cheapest I could find. I have found out though that I am glad I bought a kit because in some of my other projects I’ve had to use the other tools as well.

So to answer your questions more directly, I’d go on amazon and just purchase a 5-6 tool trim removal kit. That way you are prepared for whatever in the future!

You should have ZERO rattle as the kit provides spacers for this purpose. Those that have experienced rattling drilled holes too large. Not saying you did that BUT if you did, I suggest getting a larger spacer from Lowe’s and that’ll do the trick from what I’ve heard.

EDIT:

Also, check your latches to ensure they are functioning as designed. You may have gotten a bad apple especially if you installed correctly and it’s rattled ever since.

It's not metal to metal., I think metal is too thin and with every bump it makes sounds. Not too much at all but rattle. I'm thinking to buy some kind of insulation or re paint with a heavy rust textured pain or something like that.

If you send your issue to where you purchased it with that photo they will send you a new one. It should not rattle AT ALL by design. Mine literally has never rattled so it sounds like it may be slightly defective?

I have a different table but had a rattle that turned out to be the snaps on a molle bag hitting the metal of the table. Stuck some felt tabs on the snaps and no more rattle.

Haha I didn’t even think of that being the issue! Thanks for the reply! I’ll pass that on to those that think they are having issues in the future.

The table was designed very solid so I don’t want people to think they rattle by design because they don’t. Most that have issues are from other causes or bad luck getting a defective and what not. It’s really a great table!

It was driving me nuts and I felt like an idiot when I finally figured it out. LOL.
