Thanks to GATORB8 and driventoadventure for great advice to a very occasional tow driver (me) and highlighting safety risks!

Personally, I went REDARC because it's like half the cost, MUCH easier to install, doesn't remove the 12v outlet in the dash, and can easily be done to look very clean. There's a Tekonsha wiring harness (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08288R363/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that is a direct 1:1 install with the correct harness on both sides so that you don't even have to put the effort into the wiring harness.

As to the receiver, it actually IS a class 3 receiver, but the manuals etc call it a class 2 solely because of the towing limits. If you have the factory tow package, then the only thing you need to do anything to tow what the Jeep is actually capable of towing is install the brake controller.

Just received my Redarc controller. I like your install location but after pulling my panel it looks like a tight fit. Were you concerned with the switch fitting behind the panel? TYIA

If you're not set on keeping the 12V socket, the Redarc knob fits there very nicely. I followed the video on the Redarc website, it was actually pretty easy (with a special $9 tool for pulling the 12v socket). Most of the work for me resulted from my not having a factory tow package...

Actually was looking to use the same location as @driventoadventure used and it seemed there may be some clearance issues and there were. Slight trim of some unnecessary plastic and whalla it’s done. His location was perfect for a 15 minute install.
Thanks for the reply.

edit/ps : I don’t use the 12v socket and I’m sure that’s a real clean look but to take all that apart when it wasn’t needed…. 👍🏼

edit 2 : Photo added of completed install and evening beverage 🤪

Bro, so sorry that I didn't get to you sooner... I didn't have any clearance issues, because I didn't install the black shroud - I literally zip-tied the knob PCB to the channel for that speaker pod (or whatever it is.)

Heh I kind of figured that on the domestic whiskey part - it's distilled here in CO. The finishing cask is the only part not specifically American.

Alrighty then. I’ll take a look for it. My wife loves a Gin from Breckinridge and my sister is in Estes, so Co is a-ok. Where in Co are you?
