My 2024 392 has nasty drone/resonance. Mostly on decel and going down hills but also on gentle upshifts. My 2021 was totally fine but my 2024 is almost unbearable. Not sure why. I almost never drove with the exhaust off in my 2021, but I'm doing it a lot in my 2024. Anyway, I'm considering taking mine to a custom exhaust place to see what they can do. I do not know a ton about exhausts so any pointers you all could provide would be appreciated. Aim would be to keep the same volume/tone and get rid of the drone.

I agree, this drone can be pretty bad. You're likely hearing a combo of the cylinder deactivation too. That makes the drone much worse. Supposedly there is active noise cancellation in our rigs where the subwoofer will do something fancy to offset it but if it's doing anything, I'd hate to hear it without that. I know it's not cheap but hey, if we can afford these Jeeps then we can afford on aftermarket exhaust. I'm looking at the Magnaflow Street system in the near future.

Tapping into manual shift to disable 4cyl mode should help. I’m happy with AWE but it doesn’t maintain the stock volume.

I pulled all 4 ANC mics and it did next to nothing. I even pulled the sub and no effect. I actually had the MF Street Series on for a little bit I didn't love the tone. Kinda flat at low revs. Also I know I'm not giving it a ringing endorsement but I have mine for sale (in the FS section) if you're interested in picking one up for a significant discount versus new.

Also MDS does make it worse but I hear the drone sometimes when MDS isn't active (per gauge cluster).

Why not check the part numbers for the mufflers and resonators against the 2021?

I'm running the AWE Switchpath and love it.

No drone and it sounds a little raspier and louder than stock. But for me the real pro is that it is very small and tucked up so I wont destroy it offroad. I went through multiple metalcloak and a rock hard skid system that never really worked well.

The Borla ATAK is not supposed to have any droning. Sounds pretty good from the videos.

On my 2024 392 I am not convinced that it is the Auto Noice Cancelling ( ANC) through the subwoofer that is making the horrible boomy drone below 2k rpm when the exhaust is in performance mode ( open).
I have messed around with these so called ANC mics and no change at all in the boomy drone noise. I would advise not to waist your time disassembling the roll bar interior parts to take the so called ANC mics out.

Best solution may be to sound treat the rear cargo area, floors and doors with a heady duty Dynomat type product. There are many options available. Not cheap, but would also help quieten the vehicle from road noise. Maybe go talk with a high end car audio shop, they can advise.

I had my Ram 3500 treated with sound deadening and it made a huge difference with road or any exterior noise. I initially did it for a SQ audio system.
I will eventually do same treatment to my 2023 392XR.

Can't speak from a Jeep point of view. But from a Ram point of view (5.7 hemi, not so stock motor), I should have gone with the Borla muffler. I learned a valuable lesson by going with a "deal" on a Flowmaster 309S. At first, no real issue with any drone. A few months later, drone was an everyday thing. Still sounds sweet getting on it and going through the gears. But that drone at like 35-40 MPH is enough to make me get out and hitchhike. I also learned, changing things like the air filter will change the exhaust tone/note. Larger throttle body, change the tone/note. Borla ain't cheap, so if you go that route, make sure you touch base on every question you have with their customer support BEFORE buying.

Drone is a tricky thing. When I deleted my Ram 3500, the kit also included a larger 3" exhaust pipe. Increasing from factory 2.5" to 3" exhaust pipe created a terrible drone. I had to quickly add resonators, just before a trip from FL to Moab. So glad I did. Removed all drone, like back to factory.

Correct. Another member and I both bought the same bolt-on exhaust a few years back. He had no issue but mine had a terrible drone around 45-50mph. Went to a local muffler shop and they installed some off-brand turbo muffler - nice tone, not loud but still had drone. So they replaced the resonator with a straight glass pack and it removed my drone. The funny part, the muffler shop was much less expensive than one of those bolt-on mufflers sold online.

I had a 23 392 and it was fine but I feel the 24 392s exhaust is louder all the way around. Start up and everything. Might be crazy but it sure seems that way. Anway's maybe my ears are hurting from years of playing in rock bands, I notice no drone and love the factory exhaust.

I painted everything under the rear bumper black with ceramic header paint and left it alone. In the past I had an AWE on a 911 and it was awesome. I know Borla has good stuff as well. Couldn't go wrong with either I wouldn't think.

Think what Jeep did with the 2024 392 is to add noise insulation in areas except for the cargo floor. With interior now being a little quieter, it's easier to hear drone. I still say the best you can do is Dynomat the floors and walls, especially in the rear cargo area.
