1. I've been to Moab in mid-June a few times on my MTB and it's a great time to visit. Mid day is in low to mid 80's and late afternoon is in the high 80's to low 90's. I don't think there well know off-road trials up in the La Sals, and that's really the only area that's cold that time of year.

2. I think I'd be OK pulling the door but I'd want the top on. The sun just beats down out there. Whatever you decide to do just drink a lot of water. We camped and nights were coolish, but a nice fire did the trick.

3. I'm a newb to this and can't comment.

4. I did some trails that crossed over Cliffhanger, Gold Bar Rim, Poison Spider, Sand Flats/Hells Gate/Fins & Things area. The Sand Flat area was by far the busiest, but nothing crazy. I saw one group of 4x4's on each of the other trails. Everyone was at their own pace not waiting on anyone.

Is 6/12 a partial day? I would run Fins and Hells together. Decent first day.

Also TOW is a pretty good drive from Hells (Sand Flats). Same with Steelbender and MM.

I've done Moab in the heat of the summer.

I had a Spiderwebshade screen above me with doors and top off.

The heat is significant but the very low humidity takes some of the bite out of it.

Lite clothes that breathe are the best. A good hat with a wide brim helps a lot.

We strung a tarp between 2 Jeeps to make a shady spot for lunch.

Drink more water. Use a lot of sunscreen. Drink more water. Stay in the shade. Drink some sports beverages to replenish electrolytes. And more water.

This was kind of what I was thinking. Wondering if I should put a shade under the soft top...

Check out the Big Horn Lodge right in the heart of town. Clean rooms, fair prices and the mattresses were replaced a little over a year ago. Walking distance to everything you need.

The sun is unrelenting and the only shade you get is what you make. I am a top off doors off guy but would stay buttoned up that time of year so you can run AC and bee comfy. Drinks lots of water, no joke. If you insist on top off doors off I would put the freedom panels back on as they offer great cover and will keep the sun completely off you. Make sure you take plenty of fluids and food out on the trail. Better to have and not need than the other way around if you get in a pickle. Speaking of pickle... I highly recommend doing the pickle trail.

EDIT: disregard freedom panel comment, I see you are soft top.

I would. Don't underestimate the value of shade out there. Plenty of good options that fit cleanly under a soft top.

Camping is how we went. We stayed Ken's Lake campground. At this link, you will find some pics. There is a really cool waterfall there as well! I think it is at the beginning of the attached vid.

So, random next question: Where do women pee? Not much for forests to hide in? Thanks!

Behind a rock, behind/in front of Jeep with privacy respect form other drivers. You'll figure it out.

Men to the left, women to the right, cause women are always right.

Remember to pack out the TP. Can be handy to divy some out into sandwich baggies and use those to make it easy to throw away.

I just got back yesterday. Lucked out with the weather. I stayed at a hotel the first and last night (Moab Resort, Worldmark) Three nights at the Sand Flats Recreational Area (Campsite D) best views without getting too deep in the mountains. $15 per night.

Hi! I am planning on 1.5 weeks of wheeling with a friend this June. June 11-22 or so. I have some questions.

1. Can you tell me about how hot it really is? I am from Michigan. I get that its hot, but is it really that bad?

2. What's the best setup for the jeep? Id like to do doors and roof off. Is that doable? What about roof up but no doors? Or is that crazy and we need the AC? Will we get cold later in the evening?

3. Any other advice? Is there any equipment specific to the Moab environment I need to purchase?

4. How busy will the trails be in Mid June? Should we expect to be waiting in line for obstacles?

Thank you!
I'm here in Moab looking for a 3rd wheel? ? Hit me up!
