Hi

I've had my metalcloak suspension for 3 years/30k km, and it's starting to rust.

Should I sandblast everything and primer/paint ? Grind only where there's rust, keep the zinc and paint over it ? Not sure if I'll keep them gold or just paint it black with bedliner

I use Eastwood rust encapsulator paint products. USA company in PA. You get a human from PA on the phone.

The zinc plating has been used up. Time to blast and repaint IMO.

Recently I have found that Ospho primer does a great job converting light rust and preventing further rust under the paint. Also seems to greatly improve paint adhesion. Its cheap and easy to use too.

@TabarnaCarl - it is odd that the DB3 is rusting but the arms are fine... makes me think that the Zinc Chromate on the DB3 is not up to standards... reach out to me ([email protected]) and we can get that taken care of... - Matson

Is it all the parts or just a couple? Only reason I ask is to see if you could just replace the ones rusting.

Dang @Metalcloak that's quick response, was already planning on your products for my next phase of upgrades (already have a MC drag link waiting on time for install) but definitely feel good about that decision now.

I will add that a quick rattle can clear coat on the gold zinc will help it last and shine longer in certain “rusty” parts of the world. All of my underside MC parts clear coated and still super shiny. Easy to do, dries fast.
