I've been running Maximus-3 tow loops on my JTU since I bought it June of 2020. I bought them because I thought it was the best option for flat towing with a winch. I was never informed about the added bar, and I'm sure they weren't even produced when I bought the tow loops.
If not for reading these forums, I would of never known about the problem.
After 2 summers, my loops are still straight and tight. I use an RVI3 brake.
I use my winch and do not want to purchase a whole different bumper/tow setup.
I would like to get the added bar, but Maximus-3 website does not show how to purchase separately.
Disappointed that I will no longer be able to store and cover my Blue Ox towbar behind the motorhome.
@Maximus-3 could you PM me.

You can purchase just the bar I did. It’s easiest to just search tow in their search bar and it will come up.

Thank you! Does the attached bar make it more difficult to hook up and unhook the tow bar to the Jeep? Do you have any pictures you could share?

Unfortunately it’s still in the box. I can see where it might be a tad harder to hook the Jeep up. I will get it out this week and mess with it.

I have the new bar, but my RV is getting warranty work done. It appears that it will certainly make it more difficult because the bar will have to be taken off before you can stow up the tow bar coming from the receiver of the RV. With my current system, it is tool free and everything folds very quickly back up to the RV for unhooking at the campground. My wife could do it herself when she took our daughters on a trip. Not sure she will want to mess with the wrench to hook it up. We will also have to mount the bar on the bottom because we have the tow defender mounted to the top. As soon as I get my RV back I will post pictures.

On a side note, I just ordered the tow bar kit for our Grand Cherokee L and will start towing that when we go someplace that we will not be wheeling...

Note that their instructions for the Towing Tie Rod are dated 03/28/2022

The good news, for those that have the NSA Ready Brute Elite towbar is that I think this Tie Rod will work with it. I didn't install it today but spent a few minutes making sure it would fit my setup with the Maximus 3 Tow Loops, which thankfully aren't damaged (I have a Super C with exhaust brakes, but I spent the time making sure my everything was adjusted right for braking my Gladiator toad.

Bad news, it's not going to fold away anymore

Yep, convenient that it's dated just a couple days before RedBaron reported this problem on Page 1 of this thread.

Still no word on a solution / fix from Maximus for folks with RoadMaster Tow Bars. When I get back home I'm going to fab up a solution like the guy earlier in this thread, the bar that goes across the tow loops, shouldn't be hard as long as I can find some hollow tube stock.

They are saying to use the bar with the RoadMaster set up. It looks like it should work, just waiting to get my RV back before I can test. It will make setting up more of a pain in the ass. I am not sure how the angles will work yet and you certainly will not be able to fold it back up without unbolting the bar from the arms.

I wonder if you could replace the bolts with pins so you could make it easier if you wanted to fold the bar up.

I plan on checking that out. Would have to be a HD pin, was thinking tractor supply or similar might be a good source.

If I understand Maximus-3's description correctly, the issue is apparently not from pulling the Jeep but from stopping it.

The green crossbar bar below is in tension when stopping. Without it the other links apply load that spreads the frame apart.

I think this is a good summation. I am considering getting these for recovery purposes (I will never need to be recovered - its a just in case thing)

Thanks for the pictures and explanation. I figured I could make all work as well with a Roadmaster set up and some grade 8 bolts or tractor pins.

Question, does this added bar have any impact on hooking up or disconnecting? Basically wondering if this would negatively impact the anti binding aspect?

I looked at those for my 2020 to tow behind my motorhome. I bought a Rockjock tow plate instead. It's built like a tank and works great. Doesn't look like a snow plow mount like the Roadmaster and Blue Ox mounts. I put 4,000+ miles on it towing the JL in January, February and March with zero issues. You have to take the bumper off to install it but all total I think it took me about a half hour or so to do the installation. https://www.rockjock4x4.com/CE-9033JLP Rockjock builds off road suspension parts and they put the same effort into the towplate. And I couple it to the motorhome with a Readybrute Elite II tow bar with integrated brake. Same setup I used on my JK.

It either had no effect on the anti-binding or I got really lucky using it to tow my Gladiator yesterday. It actually felt easier to hookup as it was spread exactly the width I needed. I don't like that it doesn't fold as compactly and I'll need to find a cover for it when stowed as the original Ready Brake Elite II cover will no longer fit (and I'm out $69 or so), but it's not going to hinder my travels.
