Finally happened, TX State Trooper pulled me over for no front license plate but thankfully just gave me a warning. I need to get a front license plate bracket and have been looking at the Maximus 3 Stealth bracket.

My question is has anyone ever run in to a problem with the police saying that the license plate isn't displayed properly using this bracket? It sits real low and not sure how visible it is so wasn't sure if that would cause problems.

I got the low mount bracket that displays the plate better. You just take the plate off with two wing bolts that are included.

Someone actually got pulled over for that? Damn.

How many years had you been driving without one in states that require it? For me in CO it's been all of my vehicles since '05. I've been pulled over "a few" times and it's never been mentioned.

It's just a fine here. No points / insurance hit.

I don't care how many times they pull me over, I'm not putting the front bracket on. We have to run one here in Missouri. So far I haven't been pulled over, but I will pay the $75 and keep on not using it. It doesn't count against points or anything.

Bad luck for me I guess, only been running without the front plate for 4 months. Came up on the Trooper from behind, he got over and then slid in behind me after I passed and hit his lights. Was only a warning but may be not be so lucky if there is a next time.

I ran that max 3 low angled plate for a few years in northern Virginia and never had a problem.

Same, I’ve ran the low angled mount for a couple of years in NoVA without issue.
everytime I go into a secured parking lot, the gateguard grumbles about having to bend over to read it.

I mean, you’re asking a lot of flexibility and mobility from that gate guy. The strain on the buttons alone…

I use the Rival flip-up plate, and flip it up to protect the winch. It folds down easily when I need to see the wraps/spool, and the rest of the time doesn't hang so low that it catches on stuff. Wish we didn't need one here in CO, but first world problems and all... The little red nubs are from ACE Hardware, heat-formed to cap the bolt ends so they don't scratch the bumper when flipped up.

Yes, I got pulled over for that once. It was funny watching that trooper trying to talk his way out of it. ;)

I live in Houston and in the year I’ve had the Maximus-3 bracket, I’ve driven to Arizona, Big Bend along with several trips to Austin, San Antonio, The Valley and different parts of Louisiana. Haven’t had an issue. My brother in law has a similar setup from another manufacturer on his Bronco and hasn’t had a problem either. I think most people, including a police officer that directs traffic at a place I frequent, think it just got bent back doing Jeep things.

I have run the stealth plate bracket for the past 2 years in MD and drive onto an Army base weekly where the cops are super strict on license plates and have never had an issue.

The Maximus bracket is one of the better front plate mounts you can get to be in compliance. Tucked up out of the way, but as you can see still visible from the front. No reason for any anxiety of being pulled over. Been running this for 2+ years.... no issues with the law.
