I have the LP6’s installed on my factory steel bumper, and never really liked the options in placement. The two most common ones interfere with the recovery hooks. Or the third easiest option places them in front of middle area. I saw a picture from a member with a set of brackets from a combo kit BD offers for jeeps with the plastic bumper. BD was extremely accommodating in putting together a ‘kit’ of the parts required for this. In short the brackets mount on the bumper frame vs the steel bumper. And actually gives you a somewhat higher mounting point. In my opinion it looks a lot better and give you full access to the recovery hooks. Kudos to BD for being so awesome for doing this.
full disclosure, this has no wiring install pics as I had them installed already, only the brackets. Also, while this could be a really easy install, if you have a winch, it’s more tedious for two bolts on the inside of the frame, there is no good way (that I found or had tools to do so). Other than those two bolts, it was extremely simple.
Also, if you installed your LP6’s using the star bumper bolts, you will need for each one, the bolt, the two washers, and the nylock nut, that came in the LP6 box.
First remove the two bolts that are on the bumper frame behind the steel bumper, one of each side of the frame, both passenger (2) and driver (2).
Your are seeing them, after I installed the brackets, but this should tell you where they are. Now here is the tedious one, in the second picture, this bolt is right across from the end of the winch (on both passenger and driver sides). You can hand tighten to an extent, but with the bracket and very limited space it takes a while to tighten these two inner bolts as your arc is VERY limited. The two outer bolts are a slam dunk. In the third picture, you can see the end of the winch (semi shiny black) and how close it is.
To reiterate, if you don’t have a winch, this install shouldn’t take you 20-30 minutes, with a winch, it’s 60 plus. Again, this install does not address wiring as I had already done that.
THANKS for looking!
Once these bolts are semi tightened, you will install two bolts, 4 washers and two nylock nuts per side at the top connecting the two bracket half's together.
Lastly, you will use the bolt, two washers and nylock nuts per side from the original LP6 kit.
The only modification I need to do was relocate the oem connection from the fog lights as the bracket covered the hole where the plastic snap in mount went. Also, I have a 2024 so my connector is different from the 2023 and prior model years. Wasn’t a big deal, but just an fyi.
And the finished look
