I'm not sure that I'd want to do those shelves. That's a bit sketchy, especially in the JT.

Is the screaming engine the 2.0? That's stupidly loud.

Yup, a typical jaunt around the neighborhood.
But situations like those shelves are exactly why I have a 2-door with no tire poke and unpainted fenders. The agility and couple inches of narrowness makes a huge difference sometimes. Exploring that area's unknown trails in a JT... oof, no thanks!

Don't forget to add into the mix no cell service and gas quite possibly 100 miles of off-road crawling away. There's a whole lot of range calculation, terrain prediction, weather monitoring and risk management going on out there beyond just the wheeling & spotting part of it.

I think the screaming sound is the electric cooling fan under the hood. Is her Jeep a 2.0 Turbo? My V6 never does that.

The camera rarely gives justice to the angles, the sand hill didn’t look bad at all yet they couldn’t climb it, and on the ledge you need to look at the bottom of the clouds on the horizon to get a feel for their off camber.

I'm guessing it is. My EcoDiesel doesn't scream like that.

It is the fan. It's hot out there and every once in a while the 2.0T fan goes into turbo jet mode to cool down the engine & turbocharger, usually after a bit of crawling. It's only temporary.
