I received a set of LoD Destroyers yesterday from Northridge4x4. I went to the LOD website to download the installation instructions and found... That I apparently have an old version, because the manual there now is dated April 2022 and the install is very different. The sliders have separate mounts and bolt to them, similar to the armor-lite install.

Does anyone know anything about the new design and how it's better/worse? The manual is here: https://lodoffroad.com/assets/pdfs/JRS1814INS.pdf

The model number appears to be identical and there's no text talking about it.

I'm a little miffed that I just bought an old design with no knowledge that there was a redesign, but if really the only difference is in installation difficulty, eh, I can live. It does look like the new design may be more easily adjusted away from the body, however.

I just bought the @lodoffroad Destroyers from @Northridge4x4 also. They are the old design. They went on great and i am pleased so far. i think there are several factors with the new design. Im sure getting the gap right and adjustability is first and foremost. Im sure it is a challenge to make everyone happy with gaps when each Jeep can be off from the next. That being said mine went on easy and the gaps are very good with some work. I do need to call them and see about getting some spacers they have before i add the forward bolts through the frame. I do not want to use washers. Very sturdy without the front bolts in, though I will be adding them.

I bought Destroyer sliders from Northridge as well. My only question is what is the "old" vs "new" design? Mine were two single pieces but the instructions you link show the frame mount sections to be separate from the main slider piece. There were no instructions in my box but pretty straightforward although I did need spacers (which LoD sent right away).

The old design had the brackets separate from the rails, the new ones have everything welded together. It is much stronger that way.

Thanks! So I have the new ones and thus far after spacers they are very solid.

I am glad to see there is a new design. Probably due to complaints about the sliders hitting the rocker panel. I will be buying these sliders in a couple months.

This is backwards. The old design is one piece welded, the new design is modular and bolts together, like the armor lite rails.

That is not what I was told when I called them and asked why the instructions were not matching up with what I had.

I’ve sat the whole tub on them no issue. Front shocks needed a second to reach down and grab me traction. Pulled me forward along the slider through the squeeze I encountered.

"Old style welded"
I like what I bought, but it was noticeably harder to install and fit and I do need spacers which I haven't received yet.

I had to use a floor jack to push the passenger slider up onto the threads of the bolts next to the body bolts because it didn't quite fit. There's barely any clearance on the passenger side between the front of the slider and the body. I'm going to have to pry things to fit a shim in, but once it's all installed, I do agree that these are nice.

I am glad I got the old style then, I would hate to have all the little pieces to put together. I have about a finger gap between the body and sliders.

The new style went into production just a few weeks ago. You'll know if you have two boxes, one long one with the sliders and one with the mounts.

These new Destroyers use the same mounting as our Armor Lite Sliders. In an effort to streamline manufacturing and shipping.
Same discussion from a different thread. Here is the change and implementation date straight from LOD. If it comes in a single box it is the original version. If it comes in two boxes it is the new version.

Here is what the difference looks like:

I just received these from Quadratech and they are the updated bolt-on design. Looks really great and solid. Tried to put them on today and passenger side was easy because it reuses the bolts already on the frame. On the driver side the center and rear mounts have bolts that LoD provides but they do not fit the pre-dilled holes in the frame. LoD provides M12 1.5 inch bolts but I can only get them to turn maybe twice no matter how much force. I tried ratchet wrench and impact driver with no success.

Does anyone know the proper size bolts to use in those center and rear locations?
