I feel like I've said this a couple times, but Lizard Skin isn't a bed liner technically speaking (they say this on their website, it is not a bed liner), it is meant for internal/inside applications. From what I've heard & from a vague recollection of a conversation with one of their people on the phone, off gassing isn't really a problem/consideration.
Fair, I figured I'd mention it as I was at one point of the mind to have my interior line-x'd. The fact that they have a sound deadener formula as well would make me think it's safe, but YMMV. You might check the spec sheet to be sure. Link to the relevant article, and a snippet below:

...So my question is for those who run without carpets and/or have their interiors bedlined, how's it been besides not having to worry about dirty carpets? Are the wiring harnesses an issue? Did you notice an increase in sound when you tore out the carpets? Any other factors about having the carpets out that are a possible con I haven't thought of?..
I took the carpet out of my Rubicon, the day after I bought it.

For starters, taking out the carpet, gets rid of that coveted "new car smell" by a good 90% if not more.

Especially during the hot summer months, during crawling, and getting certain sections of the floors up in temperature, which helps to off-gas those vapours from inside of the carpet even more ?‍??.

Don't know about the Sahara or other models, but the Rubicon carpet feels very thin to me. I seriously doubt it did much for dB reduction. Makes me wish I had done a live before + after with a dB meter.

My one and only gripe, with the carpets out, is that the floors, unlike the exterior of the vehicle, don't have the best quality paint job. Lot's of thin patches and over spray, which for some, might be an eyesore?

No regrets removing it, plus with the mopar offroad floor mats, I think it looks and feels how a Rubicon should be ??.

As for spraying even more chemicals, to cover my naked floor for aesthetic purposes, I say no thanks to that!

The stuff I'm spraying is pretty inert as far as off gasing is involved, and also for the sake of avoiding damaging the paint and bringing rust on. Also my dog will need a slightly more grippy surface to stand on than bare metal I think.

I took out some of my carpet to chase a leak the other day.

Much of the JL's refinement comes from this insulation. There was a definite increase in road road. Almost as much as my TJ had. The TJ had more wind noise though.

I ran a week or two sans carpeting, prior to installing Armorlite (just because). I still used WeatherTech floor mats though. The flooring appears too unfinished and the HVAC venting exposed was unsightly. While it certainly looks good in my CJ, I was not a fan in my JL.

Go with your plan! post photos. There will be a bunch of headaches around wires, ducts, and trim, but you will figure out away. For my JK, took out carpet and used vinyl mats, made it easy to hose out. Put the carpet back in when I traded it in and it looked new. For my Cherokee, I had to repair rust spots in the floor and after that I treated floor with Rhino liner. It was messy and clumpy but was great protection and traction once it was in. Rhino liner probably best reserved for truck bed. LIving in the Northeast, I loved the hot floor in the winter! Lastly, this back seat hammock/liner is the best solution for my constantly shedding lab:https://www.orvis.com/grip-tight-windowed-hammock-seat-protector/20H1.html (not exactly the model I got, the one I have is hose-cleanable) So far I'm keeping carpet in my 4xe, but yes fur and sand are already building up! Good luck and have fun!

So I was talking to my boyfriend about how I wanna tear out the carpets and spray in some Lizard Skin Sound Deadener & Ceramic Shield. Boyfriend is not convinced the sound deadener will help (I'm pretty sure it will, from what I've seen) and is concerned about a bunch of the wiring harnesses being exposed and being a problem.

So my question is for those who run without carpets and/or have their interiors bedlined, how's it been besides not having to worry about dirty carpets? Are the wiring harnesses an issue? Did you notice an increase in sound when you tore out the carpets? Any other factors about having the carpets out that are a possible con I haven't thought of?

I'd also love to hear especially from people who have bedlined their jeeps interior. Bonus points if you've used lizard skin!

Edit: Lovely if you have armourlite and that's the product for you, but I'm not really asking about armorlite, I'm asking about people who live without carpets/bare/bedlined floors.
I took my carpets out of the back first. They were always getting wet, and my dogs gave them a funky smell. I just use a liner that I bought from quadratic back there.

In August, we went mudding with steel tube doors on, and I couldn't get all the mud out, so I took those rugs out too. I just use factory rubber mats.

I have also pulled all the plugs from the back and under the seats.

I LOVE it! I kept the rugs just in case, and am glad that I did because I traded my 19 in for a 23 recently. The old rugs went right back in with no issues.

As for noise, I didn't notice any significant difference.

I feel like the jeep is so much cleaner inside.

I’ve been running without carpets for 2 years now. I just left it bare with my mopar all weather mats it came with. As far as wiring harnesses there is none to worry about. Only ones you see is on each rear door coming out of the edge molding. They are wrapped very good and my 10 and 13 year old have not damaged them at all getting in and out. They really are out of the way. I love having no carpets. If I get caught in a pop up shower with no doors I just put the top up and pull the drain plugs.
This is how I want to roll. I have a 2025 2 door and am going to give it a shot. Did you have to remove trim to get the carpet out, or start in a specific order? Or did you just start pulling and see where it takes you?

It’s really easy. No trim removal needed. Carpet is in sections. I just started on the driver side and went from there.

Keep the factory carpet as makeshift sound deadener and use floor liners on top of it

Thanks for the response, I’m going for it when I have time.

This thread is fresh out of the tomb like Lazarus. ,

I did bed liner in my Samurai. Only because the nap of the carpet being gone made a difference in leg room. (we all know how big samurai’s are) But it was MOAR HOTTER and MOAR LOUDER.

Nice, been seeing a few Samurais lately. Love those things! I never had carpets in my TJ so I didn’t even know what it was like until I got the JL. The floors got hot but it never bothered me, I was just unsure about exposed wiring and ease of removal/replacement on these newer models. Not sure how the rest of this gang feels about the Suzuki but I’d love to see pics.
