I'm looking at a few light bars to mount on my bull bar, in the 17" to 20" range. I've read the horror stories about the cheapies on Amazon so I won't be going that route, but at the same time I'm not trying to spend $500-$1000 for a 20" light bar. I've found a few that seem pretty nice in the $200-$300 range. What say you, Jeep experts?

That being said, I'll be mounting it on TOP of my bull bar with offset clamps that set it behind the top of the bar. I want the light as high as possible and mounting underneath limits the size of the light bar. This is the aftermarket Warn Mid-Height bull bar that bolts onto the stock JL Rubicon steel bumper. The end plates are solid, no holes, and I hate to drill holes in the bar and create rust points, so I'm wondering about options for concealing the wire. I though about just zip tying the wire to bar but this would be hideous and look cobbled. I'm thinking about maybe gluing it to the back of the bar using black silicone. Again, what say you?

Iā€™m not sure of your fabrication expertise and I know you said I donā€™t want to, but I would drill a hole in the bar paint it and install a rubber grommet. Then fish the wire through and down into the bumper silicone the ends when done. I also highly recommend Rigid lights if you havenā€™t taken a look, I have had great success with their radiance, if youā€™re looking for a cheaper option you canā€™t go wrong with Quake either.

Thanks, and yeah, I'm not afraid to do a bit of fabrication. This would also require my drilling a hole in the bumper as well, unless I use washers and space the bull bar a bit. I've seen photos where others have done this to prevent rust at the bull bar/bumper joint.

I liked the diode dynamics one.

And don't underestimate the professional look of cable ties and duct tape. The black duct tape, not the grey one, unless you want to splurge on the aluminum foil version.

If you do it right, you can get the light and duct tape ā€œall purpose connectorsā€ in body matching colors.:facepalm::giggle:

I see the light is mounted on a Chevy. Will it fit on a Jeep?

Yes, it uses the universal duct tape adapter for domestic vehicles. I believe there is an import version too.

I'm seriously going to try it. I'll mask the bull bar off and make a nice, neat filet. I don't think it will look bad at all, and if it does, I'll peel it off and do it the other way.
