take a copy of this in......seems like the best solution...like I said mine has not caused an issue since my initial issues and I got a free max care for my troubles...and I only had 7500 miles so I think they absolutely would fight you on a buy back without trying this first.

At what point do you decide you have a lemon?

I began to think about that decision when the new engine, installed via a warranty claim, began to make the same interesting and expensive noises that the original engine did, which in turn compelled its replacement.

The same dealer that replaced the engine, and who welcomed me with open arms during the original claim, couldn't be bothered to give me the time of day when I returned with the same issue.

That was enough for me. I was able to engineer a buy-back of my YJ, and I then turned my back on the Jeep brand for 25 years. The buy-back was easy because the vehicle was less than 1 year old and otherwise unmodified. I actually pocketed $600.00 after the loan was paid off.

That the ownership experience of my current JLU has been 99% perfect isn't lost on me.

Prioritize paying off the note. Having a clear title in hand will remove the complication of a lien, if or when you need to work a buy-back claim with the relevant entity.

Lawyer buddy who defended GM in lemon law cases told me the only way you can win if you've tried taking it back to dealer the required number of times in your state. Then...

take off the plates.
park it in your garage and take picture to send them.
buy a new car.
tell them they have 1 month to settle or storage will be $100 per month in your garage.
ask for a court date.

GM offered to take back after payment of $0.25 per mile but was charging employees who purchased and had same issue $0.10 per mile. Refused and 3 months later they took it for the $0.10 per mile.

This was back in 2002 on Pontiac Vibe with 9000 miles with CEL that constantly came on and 8 tries at repair.

most states consider a lemon as 3 repeated repairs for the same concern, or an extravagant amount of repairs within the lemon period. it doesn't always have to be the same issue failing to be repaired, nor does the issue need to be seen as a serious safety or drivability concern.

my shop deals with buyback repairs (aka we "fix" it after it's bought back). we have a lot of vehicles that were bought back that have literally nothing wrong with them, or they've already been properly repaired. i had a grand cherokee 4xe the other day where the buyback reason was, and i quote, "r/r speaker rattles". if you checked the actual service history you can see the speaker rattle was successfully addressed at 4k miles over two visits. however the vehicle was back at the shop every 1000 miles or so for random issues but primarily recalls. it eventually got bought back at around 17k miles. the poor bastard was back at the shop every other month for a new recall it seemed. he never had a repeat visit for the same issue other than the two times for rattle, but it got bought back all the same.

if you have had multiple visits to the dealership for unexpected repairs within the first year of ownership just about any lawyer can get it bought back through the courts. stellantis doesn't do voluntary buybacks anymore so you physically have to sue them. you'll generally win and stellantis has to pay extra for drawing out the process (to your lawyer, anyway). hell, we had a diesel bought back because stellantis took so damn long to make to the HPFP recall part available.

I feel like it’s better to talk to an attorney who handles lemon law cases than to random people on the internet. Not saying anyone here is incorrect, just that if you want real legal advice there are better sources.

still is at the dealer waiting to get fixed 12 days now and i have talked to a lemon law layer i dont really want to go that route especially since i have quite a few mods lights snorkel hard wired dash cam front and rear cameras hard wired cell booster metal cloak lift with black shocks cargo dog rear seat delete so i would have to revert everything
back to stock
except maybe the lift .
only thing i can think of on the lift is to swap it with somebody who has either a stock Rubicon lift and wants their upgrade to the Metal Cloak plus maybe a some cash or just eat the cost

well, here’s an update today marks the 22nd of 30 days that my jeep has been in the shop there’s still chasing the check engine light.
Now they’re telling me that they have to take the taser mini off and reset everything back to factory in order to find what’s causing the check engine light
I’m not sure I believe that simply because I only had the taser on to the air pressure warning in the tires . Nothing more.
So the issue boils down to they can’t figure out the check engine light but the code that it throws is P058A which is something downstream of the motor? They think it’s a battery monitoring module.
Now here’s another issue that I could use some guidance and thoughts on
If this Jeep does get brought back as a lemon and man, I really hope it does not
I am going to feel really weird ordering another one. I’m trying to process that right now.

The Taser should have been removed when you first took it to the dealer. With all the exotic vehicles you have listed on your profile I don't see where you have the need for a Jeep.

You were foolish enough to leave a Tazer connected to your Jeep when you left it at the dealership??? If the problems go away after removing it then you're most likely going to have to foot the bill for all of their time.

If only @Rhinebeck01 (and Tazer) and a dozen others on this forum had told us 10,000 times to remove the Tazer before a dealer visit. Even when I blew the radiator off-road, I unmarried and removed the Tazer once I got it pulled back down the mountain and before it got towed the rest of the way to the dealership. It’s so simple even I can do it. Why give them any more excuses?

Where money, lawsuits, and an entity far bigger than you are involved, you can’t always count on logic saving you. Hopefully they will show some integrity.
