That’s exactly what I said!!! I was willing to pay whatever for it so that I had the full functionality of my brand new Jeep. Had I known this, I would have never bought it with no Sirius XM and the 7”. It was the only V6 with the cold weather group in the immediate area and didn’t think it would be a big deal to swap it out as long as I stayed with the OEM. I’ve had this discussion with a lot of people that are in the same boat. What a shame there isn’t a fix for this.
but Jeep is by no means the only one, BMW telematics also go crazy if the head unit is changed. and BMW will not help you fix it either. Almost not worth any mods to some parts of our cars...

That’s discouraging! I figured the same thing about mods after I made the huge purchase. All I wanted was Sirius radio and it turned into this. Expensive and frustrating!!

i want to add the wireless carplay to my car that they just debuted for 2024, but who knows if it will work or cause issues with updates later.

I don’t recommend that at all unless the dealer will do it and it becomes a “thing”. Otherwise you’ll be in the same boat as the rest of us. I use one of those wireless dongles from Amazon and it works about 98% of the time. It’s an Eleacc or something. Here’s the trick to those though, if it ever starts getting buggy more than likely you need to bring it in the house to run the update. I’ve done that twice in the 5 months I’ve had it. Also, make sure your phone isn’t named like Joe’s I-phone because if you’re around another joes iPhone it will get confused. For example, I changed mine to Laura’s Blue Eye-Phone. I have it plugged into the console USB. I then used velcro to the device and on the side of the console to keep it secured in place. It’s totally out of the way of my console tray and other stuff that I store in there.

Why did my update go to 34.32 and others on here went to 41 plus?
For older systems that had under version 22.64, it is a two step process to bring it up to a version 40.1 or higher.

You will probably get another OTA update soon to get it to latest 41.1X version.

Those functions disappear because they are related to UConnect. You have an internal SIM card that must be activated and tied to those features. Only if a warranty replacement is occurring will the dealership ensure those functions remain (not always, sometimes they just get it wrong). So if you upgraded from 7" to 8.4", it's not going to happen. If you have an overhead switch that is lit up, you can replace it with the airbag only version.
Saw this reply-- I have the 8.4 Uconnect and I am told I need to update my SIM card in order to reactivate the ATT hotspot in the Jeep. Do you know what that involves? I have spoken to dealerships and they act like I am taking Zoltarian...
