Are you saying that the secret is to not touch the handle while closing the door?
I'm wondering if that has something to do with the issue or maybe the distance of the fob from the vehicle? I never touch the door handle when closing the door and then either use a single finger press on either the driver's door button or the tailgate button, and knock on wood, it's worked every time. The fob proximity on mine seems pretty sensitive to distance, since I can be leaning into the vehicle and not be able to press start to run/accessory mode (though taking the fob out of my pocket and moving it only a foot closer from the sill to the seat will work). Maybe the vehicle still believing the fob is 'inside' the vehicle is what's causing the problem?

Or maybe some people just have chubby sausage fingers? ?

I find I have to press the fob 3 times to turn off the interior sensor when the soft top is on (not the hard top) or the soft top is down when locking. One press does lock but need 3 presses otherwise alarm will go off. That sound correct>?

My experimentation seems to indicate that fob distance isn't associated with the issue, at least not for me. I'm repeating the action over and over again without moving the fob. Fails to unlock about 20% of the time.

Do NOT grip the handle. That is most likely your entire issue.
Well now theres conflicting messages lol. I dont grip the handle when closing, I push the door closed and then usually thumb the lock button and its very hit or miss.

For the longest time I would have my fingers wrapped around the door handle while shutting the door, and couldn't figure out why the door locking button normally didn't work (for me). It sounds like that does not apply to your situation.

Ditto for me. After reading this thread, I am at 100% lock on first press after just using my finger.

The forums at work.

I have a 2021 Rubicon and I only have to press 1x for it to lock. There are some settings on your Uconnect you may want to check out regarding locking doors.
