I'm wondering if that has something to do with the issue or maybe the distance of the fob from the vehicle? I never touch the door handle when closing the door and then either use a single finger press on either the driver's door button or the tailgate button, and knock on wood, it's worked every time. The fob proximity on mine seems pretty sensitive to distance, since I can be leaning into the vehicle and not be able to press start to run/accessory mode (though taking the fob out of my pocket and moving it only a foot closer from the sill to the seat will work). Maybe the vehicle still believing the fob is 'inside' the vehicle is what's causing the problem? Are you saying that the secret is to not touch the handle while closing the door?
Or maybe some people just have chubby sausage fingers? ?
