I just put a down payment on a 2024 Willys. I live in NY and the vehicle is in Brevard County North Carolina. I'm nervous because someone pointed out to me that in October that area was underwater from Hurricane Helene and A 2024 wrangler with 10000 miles seems wierd, why would they sell it so quick. The dealership seems reputable and it's still under a factory warranty. Would you guys trust buying this vehicle without seeing it in person first. I was thinking about using LemonSquad or Pomcar to do an inspection and hopefully they will look underneath and be able to tell if it looks like it's sat in water. But I've read bad reviews about both services.

How much of a down payment?
Did you sign a contract...paper or electronic?
What does the contract say about in-person inspections?
What does the contract say about cancelling the purchase?

Welcome to the Forum!
Nice looking Ride. I would ask for some Pictures of the underneath frame, diffs, and suspension.
Hopefully, you are buying it for less than what they are asking. 2024, with 9800 miles on it. Why did somebody trade it in with that low mileage?

I see this a lot around here. Someone has always wanted one, then after six months, or a year, the romance is over and the compromises they made become annoying to them. Then it gets traded on the more mundane, but more civilized, vehicle they are accustomed to. Or maybe the prior owner called Dave Ramsey.

Also, have the service department pull the records and look for anything that indicates an ongoing issue. It could also be that it got traded due to an issue, or got lemon lawed.

Loan rates are generally cheaper for a new vehicle, visit a dealer in NJ and see what number you can come up with.
That's not even a Jeep dealer it's a Ford dealer, if you have any issues your 9 hours away.
Take a breath and do some more homework before you pull the trigger.
I built the Jeep I wanted on Jeeps web page printed that and went to a dealer and I custom ordered it.
Was it cheaper? Probably not, but i got the full warranty and if i have any issues i'm ten minutes from place of purchase.
Added all up a new jeep (or used from a local dealer) might just be less headache.

I get a new car every year. It's not that uncommon.

Not all of Western NC was underwater.

Get a pre purchase inspection if you are worried.

You can go to any Jeep dealer. The dealer you purchased it through is irrelevant.

There can be issues with any used vehicle. An independent pre-purchase inspection is always worth it.

The Carfax looks innocent enough, regular dealership maintenance, got a safety inspection in January for renewal, no lemon like red flags.

People are frequently crying in this forum about trying to dump their Wrangler after a year or two of ownership.

Maybe don't pay the $40K asking, haggle.

KBB says trade in value is $35K range $33-$37K, chances are the previous owner went with a Bronco Sport, so probably took $33K.

Ask for the VIN, run a Carfax. If it’s a water damaged salvage vehicle it will be in the record. Look for anything shady. You’re probably fine.

A thorough inspection....in, out & under....is something that should be done and by an independent party. Don't ask the dealer. Try to find one yourself. Here are some links to get you started.

Good luck.

The plus side is that dealers have access to all of that info. If a vehicle has had collision damage, storm damage, major issues, etc, they will normally trade at auction value and send it straight there. A new car dealer usually doesn’t want to keep any kind of problem used vehicles. And if they do, they are usually sold on a satellite lot that sells less them top condition vehicles, usually to cash or second/third chance credit buyers

Also ...CarFax reports are not reliable. Two of my past cars were in accidents and neither accident showed on a CarFax report. Not all shops or all insurance companies report to CarFax.

Have a pre-purchase inspection performed.
