Seems like my plans keep changing by the hour but the latest is we're getting to Big Bear around 3PM. We're going to hang out on the lake till about 5ish then head to meet @ChuckQue at camp.

Sunday we're packing up camp and going hiking then heading back to LA. No wheelin' for me this time.
I always liked going to skyline drive. It’s not a hard forest road to drive and it has places to get out and sightsee and hike

I think that's near where we were planning to hike. We were planning on doing the Castle Rock trail.

Ran the middle section of Skyline Drive after climbing Clark’s Grade last month. Exactly what you would expect from BB—big boulders and tall trees—very scenic. I think there are hiking trails out to high points south of the road. 🏔

I found a .gpx file download link on this page: https://funtreks.com/off-road-trails/skyline-drive/ that covers 2N10 end-to-end.

Camping location coordinates: 34.31258, -116.92882

That’s tentatively where we will be. It’s usually not occupied but since it’s a holiday weekend there’s a chance it could be taken. If so, I’ll find another place to camp and head to town to post the updated location.

Wheeling wise we are considering hitting John Bull since that spot is right by the end of the trail. We’re also game to run something else if JB is packed. No firm plans since we all know how busy it gets up there and usually have to pivot.

Spot is open, we’re posted up there. Verizon has cell service there. We are tentatively running John Bull tomorrow morning, and may do a night run on something easier either tonight or tomorrow night.

Looks like a nice spot. I didn't see how many are running with you but I'm looking forward to a trail report if you get one. There's a lot of middle grade trails around there that look great for night runs too. We were out there last weekend and it was pretty good. We're at home with Grandsons this weekend and took them fishing but we're also looking forward to getting back up there in the near future. Those rocks just keep calling. :like:

We didn’t end up running JB because @SadRobot is apparently a party animal and kept us up until 0100 😂

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

@Mx5red is doing a night run with us tonight, should be good times!

There are many ways to crawl on rocks. Sometimes on the morning after in the middle of camp. 🤪🤪
I’ve seen worse. 🤣🤣
There’s always the night run. Splitting time between mountains and desert there isn’t a desert night that goes by without a night run. We always look forward to those with anticipation.

Any report/pics from the night run?

@ChuckQue , @Mx5red
I have some dash video but that’s it. We did a short run, but a fun one. That trail to the north of where we were is neat. I’m going to be doing a video review of the lighting stuff I have on the jeep and it’ll include footage from that trail.
