Also not sure why BOH has Holcomb rated 6-8 and JB 5-7.

The gatekeeper and that whole first uphill on JB was more challenging than anything on Holcomb.

Oh yeah no pictures from me but Craig got a few of me coming through again I was tail end Charlie.

I thought JB was harder too when I ran it last summer

OK, the start was a comedy of errors. I was sending several text messages to the wrong number with my ETA (very early I might add). @GMONEY was texting me after I lost cell coverage. He was going to the finish, I was going to the start. I waited about an hour and figured I'd start Holcomb Creek and text him when I get cell coverage (pro tip - there's no cell phone coverage on any part of Holcomb). I ended up doing Holcomb solo (probably not recommended) and as I'm making my way out of the final rock garden I see Greg.

Solo in the middle rock garden.

We sync up (not like the GIF) and decide to do Holcomb in reverse. This was my first trip with the long arms and Greg had his Gamechanger lift - we just just walked through Holcomb with no drama, no issues, no spotting. Also - no Jeep Jamboree.

We were feeling good so we went over to John Bull - takes about 45 min to get there from the end of Holcomb. There was a crowd due to the Jeep Jamboree tackling the gatekeeper but it moved along.

The zoo that is the JB gatekeeper

Once the Jamboree went up (and we let a couple of jeeps come down), Greg and I tackled the gatekeeper. Once again, the long arm suspension pretty much walked right up it as compared to my previous attempt. Greg also had no issues but did get some bad spotting at the start

Greg about to get stuck due to a non @Craigger approved spotter.

By far, the most impressive thing was l'il stubby (that's the name of Greg's jeep) getting up this massive boulder field on JB (optional line). Despite multiple attempts, my mallcrawler couldn't make it up

I thought this last photo was funny. For some reason, we never really parked on level ground. This was a snack stop which made the tailgates super-difficult to open (and keep open). We are not smart men.

Overall, an incredible day of wheeling. Holcomb Creek was totally empty both ways. Hats off to the Jeep Jamboree for keeping 20+ jeeps moving along. Really looking forward to getting out again - we were thinking some time in June (@SadRobot - we need to set a date to give you a deadline).

Looks like a really good time. Was seriously considering joining you guys but I had to be home by around noon and thought it was wise to not risk this one. I have June 7th open if you’re able to set something up for that day. Possibly the 28th but that one’s up in the air right now.

Ha and then I got involved when Greg texted me asking if his phone was working which then led to me calling you thinking that maybe something was wrong with Greg's phone. 🤣

Glad you guys finally found each other out there on the trail. Looked like a fun day out there.

Really looking forward to getting out again - we were thinking some time in June

I'm hoping to be up and running again by the end of June. I had to order some parts that I'm waiting for a ship date.

I didn’t see if you were going for the new engine or rebuilding your old one.

Newish. I'm putting in a 2025 JT engine that got pulled for a hemi swap at 11k miles. It's arriving this week. Mine is pretty much ready to come out now so we'll be doing to swap out next weekend. From there it's just a matter of re-connecting and bolting everything back up.

I was up there for the Jamboree over the weekend. Would have been great to do John Bull and Holcomb Creek with you guys if I wasn’t already signed up for the Jamboree.

Here’s a few pictures from Gold Mountain.
