Hello Forum,
I’ve removed any obdii apps to only have jscan with the obdiimx+. I can get one scan or clear codes but if I try again it locks up with this screen, I appreciate Jscan and have got past the connectivity issues would like to resolve this one

thank you!!!

Just out of curiosity, have you tried unpairing the OBDLink MX+ and performing a factory reset?

For factory reset, press and hold the button on the front of the device for about 15 seconds, until the "Power" LED starts flashing rapidly. Pair it to the phone again and see if that works.

I did when fixing the connectivity issue, but will try again. Appreciate the suggestion.

Just to clarify. Have you been using JSCAN and the OBDLinkMX+ for a while without issue and this is a new problem?

In order to run “Quick Diagnostics” then “Advanced Scan” for example…
Are you selecting “Auto connect to Bluetooth 4.0” as you should.
You should NOT be selecting OBD Link MX+

The problem is ongoing and I have not Sir (British accent?). When having problems linking / connecting with jscan the link the 3rd link from the bottom was the only way to connect for me, I can try again as it’s been a while.

I also removed the Mx+ app (which I like a lot) as I was told it caused issues for jscan “competing” to link to Mx+

FYI I had zero issues with Mx+ app

Appreciate the feedback,

If you can afford it, do yourself a favor and upgrade to something with BLE capability. I have the Vgate vLinker MC+ and that's never given me trouble, apart from the first few times I used it due to operator error. With BLE you don't even need to pair it to your phone--as soon as your phone sniffs it out you can just connect to it.

When I select “Auto connect to Bluetooth 4.0 low engery” I get:

Well I’m not sure about the low energy aspect of it. I have the cheaper vgate vLinker but I’m pretty sure yours is on the JSCAN recommended list. Maybe @THAW has some insight, I’m always volunteering him for work around here,

OBDII MX+ doesn't have BLE (Bluetooth 4.0) capability. It uses regular Bluetooth connection. You have to pair and connect it to your phone first using your phone's Bluetooth connection manager, and then select it in JScan.

Ok, I’d been connecting “manually” in Bluetooth settings before. I’ll continue to do so.

I assume you've power-cycled the phone and the MX+?

What type of phone? What do you mean by "can get one scan", you're running ADVANCED SCAN, and then the connection drops?

Hey Thaw,
I have l power cycled (restarted) the phone many times , sometimes that will unfreeze jscan. I,ve unplugged and rebooted the obdmx+ adapter by holding the search button several times. Phone is an IPhone 15 pro

1. iPhone will always connect to obdmx+ via Bluetooth, but sometimes jscan will not connect when selecting an obdii connector. I’ve removed all obdii apps except Jscan and removed “potentially competing” blue tooth connections like uconnect. I still have headphones and such in the Bluetooth list but nothing connected except the obdmx+

2. I run a quick scan or advanced scan and clear codes and try another scan it usually will freeze or if I toggle back screens. I then try rebooting the iPhone and obdmx+ adapter

As most don’t seem to have these issues I’m leading towards the fault being with the obdmx+ adapter. FYI the issues are the same between our 2 jeeps.

Thx,
Bob

When you say restarted the Iphone, is it a hard restart or power off/power on. Hit up volume, then down volume, then hold power button until the apple icon shows up?
