That is definitely a possibility, the TCM on these itself on these as far as actual shift scheduling does not care what your tire size is, shifting is completely reliant on drive shaft/output shaft speed. However, the extra load generated by the heavier tire and the extra throttle input needed to make them do the same work can make your aggression counter go up and hold the gears like you experienced before.
Gotcha. Appreciate it!

So let’s say a certain dealership left my transmission underfilled by 2.5 quarts after a rear main seal repair. After topping it off via the service manual, I’m now getting what feels like a slow shift (or slipping?) at the top of 3rd going into 4th. That’s not normal after driving this thing 109k miles. Should I try a relearn?

Id say that would be a good reason to do a relearn in case it learned bad data while running on low fluid.

Yeah, the symptoms didn’t become apparent for 1000 miles. SMH… delayed shifting, rpm flare, going away after it warmed up..

So it did have plenty of time to learn based off bad data I suppose. Everything seemed fine for about 1000 miles and then I noticed over the course of three or four work days that it was behaving like it was low on fluid.

Going to bump this simply for a question to avoid a new thread.

I have noticed that under certain throttle conditions (part throttle) my 2-3 shift seems to flare or hang a second before getting into 3rd. It’ll basically shift from 1-2 at about 2k then stay at 2k until it grabs third which isn’t very long but long enough for me to go hmmm. It won’t do this under light throttle in traffic or if I add some more gas pedal to the equation, it’s super responsive then. Anything I should be concerned about? I want to think the shift logic is just “lazy” and combine that with clutches being involved that maybe it’s just having a hard time anticipating what I’m going to do whether it be letting off/braking or continuing forward. To add, fluid is at the proper level

Added a quick video, gonna try to get a better one when not in traffic.

Yeah lazy logic. These are sloppy at part throttle. Have you serviced your trans yet? I’m an advocate for every 30k on these with how hot the trans temps get. Noticed your at 50 something.

Yeah a service is on my to do list. Knowing I was gonna do it myself I reached out to a dealer out of curiosity and they quoted 1300. So I’ll be saving 1k and just do it myself for a couple hundo lol

If you ever want your trans tuned let me know. No PCM unlock needed for that. Just the MPVI4, 4 credits, and a bypass cable if you don’t already have one. @Tr4ckD4ys had me do just the trans on his 2.0.
