IMHO, the bottom line is just how many of these JLU-XL's are you personally going to commit to buy right now? I mean, would you plunk cash down on Sergio's desk for, say, 5,000 of them?

FCA isn't going go thru the R&D expenses just on the off-chance you might buy only one.

R&D would be minimal for JLU-XL as they are already developing the JTU. So basically would would need a different top that went from the rear doors to the tail gate and a different bed/back of cab that allowed it to be one continues interior and add a 2nd bench seat. Its development but very minimal in the world of auto development.

I would give up the JT for one thats for sure.

With AEV losing the Brute market, maybe they could focus their efforts *cough*cough on a third row conversion once the JT comes out.

No, it is not the same "R&D expense" argument. The difference I thought was obvious. The difference is projected sales or potential sales. The more narrowly focused the design becomes, the less sales will likely happen.
