Why am I having such a hard time deciding between a JLU and a Ram 1500? I don’t tow anything, but a truck intrigues me.

Pros and cons from anyone with experience/advice? Family of 4 here. Thanks!

I got rid of a full size truck to get a a JLUR. Couldn't be happier. Just think of all the places you and the family can go in a Jeep.

Personally, I prefer the interior cargo area as opposed to a bed on a pickup for road trips. Especially for a family of 4. Yeah you can put your stuff in the bed of the truck but if you don't have a topper, there's no 110% guarantee it will stay dry. (Although most bed covers these day do a decent job of minimizing water intrusion. The Jeep is more customizable. Insurance was cheaper for me on the Jeep compared to my 2016 Silverado that I bought new. I get better fuel economy in my Jeep loaded for a week of camping than I ever got in my truck with just a suitcase for a weekend trip. I don't know, just a few things that come to mind. But if you're dead set on getting a full size truck, look at the new RAM Rebels. I rented one recently and I was amazed at the offroadyness and comfort all wrapped in one.

It just looks so odd to me. I couldn’t do it
If you don't tow anything heavy go with the jeep. You will enjoy it a

Thanks! I do always think about not having any interior cargo space if I went the pickup route...could be tricky.

I own a 2019 RAM Crew Cab and a 2020 JLUR.

The RAM is a much nicer vehicle

Positives:
Luxury inside
Larger inside
Quieter
Smooth and stable ride
More comfortable

Negatives
Large and can be difficult to park/maneuver

Positive of Jeep:
Fun vehicle
Conversation starter/friend maker

Negatives:
Small inside for a family
Bumby/noisy ride
Not stable at speed
Not very comfortable

If I was choosing a daily driver for a family I'd go RAM.

Both are Fiat, seriously consider other brands.

I'm even thinking of one, as I could do what I can with my truck, but also have a 6spd

I have now had my Ram 1500 4X4 for a year, and will pick up my 2020 JLUR hopefully at the end of the week. Both serve a purpose for me, as do my other vehicles, but if I had a family and only one choice, I'd have to say the Ram would be the better choice for the reasons the other member listed above.

I’ll add my $0.02.....

NOTHING and I repeat NOTHING is like a Wrangler.

I think a lot of the decision depends on your needs. With that said. My wife and I owned a Ram several years ago. LOVED the vehicle!!!! It was a good 3rd vehicle for a family with 2 drivers and a young child but, as the child grew it just was not good. So dare I say it we traded it in on a mini-van. The mini-van served us VERY well.

Tons of room and very reliable for us.

Fast forward several years.

That young child is now a senior in High School, driving and already accepted to college. So we suddenly had 3 drivers with 2 cars.

Our two vehicles over the past several years has been a Pontiac G6 and a Toyota Highlander. Both great vehicles for our needs.

I have been LOOKING at Wranglers for 3 years and have taken hundreds of pictures, spoken with countless Wrangler owners in parking lots (Btw my teenage daughter calls it stocking). NEVER did that when looking for a truck.

So we took delivery of the Wrangler last Thursday at 3:35pm.

Took a drive that evening with the freedom panels out. Friday drove home from work with the panels out. That evening also took a drive with them out. Saturday took a drive (a previous post “Out and about.....”).

NEVER did that with my truck although I did get asked by several people if I could haul something for them.

Basically look at your actual needs. Maybe you are not at the point for a Wrangler. But if you decide to pull the trigger..... ENJOY THE DRIVES!!!!!:rock::like::):handsinair:
