I don't care if you wave at me or shoot the bird; I'm still not waving back. I don't wave at other motorcyclists when I'm out on my bike, either. I have more important things to do, like keeping both hands on the wheel/handlebars and maintaining situational awareness.

There's one exception to the rule, however, because I'm an incorrigible dirty old man. If a good-looking hard body waves her bare boobies at me, you can bet your ass that I'll wave back.

I always wave, but I don't necessarily look at the driver to see if there was a wave back. I just notice a jeep and toss up some deuces as I pass.

I wave at every Wrangler I see on the road
Let’s face it gentleman, what’s more sexy, a man in a jeep or a woman in a jeep. How did you think the jeep feels! Women rule the world, we just think we do! Lol

Try the motorcyclist "wave" in Europe and you'll find no one acknowledges it. Same in Taiwan... To many people on motorcycles, so it's not special and you would be constantly "waving" at everyone that met you in traffic.

Sorry, but I can't drive, wave, shift gears, and drink a beer at the same time... *Something* has got to be sacrificed and it sure isn't going to be my beer or my manual transmission. So, would you prefer that I drive (when you are headed towards me) or wave at you as I hit you? :)
Well if you hit me the least you can do is wave haha

I used to have a rule that I wouldn’t wave at jeeps that were completely stock, I don’t use that rule anymore because I realized everyone has their own style and if stock is yours than that’s cool. I do draw the line at people with the stupid “Jeep wave stickers”.. if your just gunna slap one of those on your mirror or windshield and call it a day then you don’t deserve a “real wave”.

I have noticed that one group has yet to wave or wave back at me [not including the rental Wranglers] ... any woman driving.

I do not know what it is, but ~1/2 the guys wave/wave back, most of the rentals do not wave at all [not surprising], and none of the women have waved or waved back.

I sold my last motorcycle about 3 year ago. It got to where I would dread seeing another bike while riding in nice weather, there would be so many bike out and I would just get tired of waving, I would still wave but I would let them initiate the wave first.

If I wave and do not get a return wave, no big deal, I will just wave again at the next Jeep.

Now that the JK is passing the 10 year mark, I've noticed more soccer moms and types you wouldn't expect to wave to you actually doing a wave. Yes, I'm totally stereotyping old fogies and people you know damn well will never take their Wrangler onto a trail. But hey! They're waving!

At some point, the soccer moms and mall crawlers are going to trade their Jeeps in on another vehicle and at that point, we'll have a gently used Jeep on the used market and a prime candidate for major mods. :)f

They're helping the future owners by taking that initial depreciation on the vehicle. :)

When did I say not to help other people? Actually not too long ago a bunch of jeepers and I went to the beach to hang out, and we practically spent the entire time pulling random people out.
Might be a "Texas Thang" too... you know how we do down here...

I waved in my rental when I was on the big island last month. Didn't hardly ever get a wave back though. I'll blame other tourists.

Interesting Post.

With regards to waving at other motorcyclists: I don't wave, I nod instead. But I do acknowledge them. I don't wave because I'm a novice, so for this reason I keep both my hands on the bars as well.

Once I get my Jeep, I will probably wave at other Jeepers if not on the freeway. And if I see other jeepers in rural area/country towns, I'll definitely wave, as I was taught to do this anyway (regardless of what ride you're in).

It's just upbringing.
