So I'm noticing a definite double standard in the waves when driving my 2 JLs. My punkin Jeep is pretty well modified with Wheels, 35" tires, 2.5 lift and Halo headlights. When I drive this my hand gets tired due to the amount of waves I get, and not wanting to leave anyone out. People go out of their way to overtly wave when I'm in this thing. However, I've had had my Nacho JLU for little more than a week, and it's still pretty stock. When I drive this one it's like I don't exist. Waves that I received are down 90%. I can even initiate the wav and people just blow right by me as if I'm not there..lol

For years my wife drove a bone stock JKUR. When I drove it everyone would wave. When I drove my TJ nobody waved. So a complete backwards experience from yours.

To me it seems completely random as to who will wave back (Men vs Women, stock vs modded etc.). My guess is it isn't a double standard, just luck of the draw as to who you are driving by.

Especially in order to make that comparison statement, the exact same people would need to be polled.

I wonder if its not so much about people shunning the stock Jeep as it is about people being excited by the built out Jeep. I feel like plenty of times I don't get a return wave, the other person is not paying attention. That built out Jeep is not only more likely to grab someone's attention, but also to get the other person genuinely excited thinking about fun Jeep stuff.

I personally try to wave at all Jeeps, but it always feels like a bigger deal when I'm waving at a more built out one! Haha.

But regardless I figure Jeeps are about freedom so, wave or no wave, it's all good.

After driving Wranglers for 20+ years, the wave can get tiresome in my area. There are just so many Wranglers around right now, but if I am waved at I certainly return the wave....

It is more a top down or doors off thing right now for me (lets face it, I am getting kinda lazy)!

Also in a stock Jeep, but waving here is inconsistent anyways. Older Jeeps almost always wave, and a phenomenon I've realized is that I've never gotten a wave back from a Jeep with painted fenders, so I've stopped initiating.

I definitely get more waves when the top and doors are off, not sure why. I guess it shows how "fun" I am and people like to wave to fun :sun:

I have almost 3,000 miles on my Wrangler. I will not wave at any other Jeep Wrangler with more than 4,000 miles. 🤣
