Went up to Moab this past week. Literally nobody gave a jeep wave. Too many jeeps in moab wear out everyone's waving fingers? Or maybe all the Jeeps were rentals? Funny cause as soon as I hit the Colorado state line they resumed. Also in NM and AZ. Maybe somebody put a Ford emblem on the front of my Jeep.

In town at least I was too busy trying to figure out what shop/store/restaurant I was looking for, I know I missed a bunch of waves when I was there over Labor Day.

If they don't respond to the standard wave, try emphatically waving both arms at them. If that doesn't work, lay on the horn. That should get their attention.

It wouldn’t surprise me if it was a bunch of rentals. That’s definitely the case in the Ouray area.

Noticed the same thing at EJS this year, didn’t matter if it was an old or new Jeep. I figured it was wave fatigue, lol.

Same thing with motorcycles. Waves constantly all over the country. Until I got half way across South Dakota when I went to the Sturgis bike week. And I was glad. I’d have been riding with one hand for the whole week. I’ll admit I rarely wave first. I usually wave back. But I was not mad I did get many waves while in Moab a couple weeks ago. One I was trying to pay attention to traffic and look for where I wanted to go. Second was watching for those random cross walks that aren’t at intersections. Lol.

I was out there a couple weeks ago, same thing. Probably just not necessary out there.

There is a point where you stop waving because there's simply too many people to wave at. Moab is definitely one of those places. It also happens elsewhere in UT. Do you really need to wave at 12 people every time you run a short in-town errand? It gets a little ridiculous.

Weird, I usually get responses like this all the time. Ok maybe not.

We are FNGs to the Wrangler, still learning to recognize and be able to respond to a wave. Sometimes I am more concerned with traffic and keeping 2 hands on the wheel than to look for and wave back. l’d say we get waved at by 80% of the Wranglers in town

The jeep wave is genius in that you can still maintain 2 hands on the wheel. Yeah it's not like im devastated emotionally over this, ok ok i am! Lol. I just didn't expect to be denied a wave back so much in a place like moab, full of jeep enthusiasts. I do think many were rentals and the people didnt have a clue or were too consumed with the $300/day rental fee to even notice

Sorry, one of those was probably me. I got in Friday evening and biked the entire Whole Enchilada trail. Left from Moab Saturday around 5 and was so sore and miserable from a punishing day on the bike that I don’t really even remember much of the drive home, other than feeling so sore. I’m sure I missed more than one person waving. I don’t initiate, but usually I’ll throw one back to the other driver.
