Jeep JL Receiver Hitch

I opted to save a few dollars and not go with the $800. Max Tow package and figured I would mount a $60. receiver hitch after I got my JL.

I have been searching Mopar and many of the Jeep aftermarket sites but no trailer receiver hitch for the JL...

Tonight I located Mopar Part Number: 68251844AB

I would really appreciate it if anyone is able to confirm that part number is indeed a reciver hitch for a JL. I would also REALLY appreciate if that somone is able to track down a part number for a OEM hitch wiring harness.

They have both the hitch and harness, but it’s the full 4/7 pin setup from the tow package, so it’s $200 instead of like $40 for the OEM 4-pin only that the JK has available. Hoping the release the latter.

Awesome thank you guys very much for the quick reply's!! And holy shit I can not believe the price gouging FCA is doing with these 2 parts.

The receivers are $50 - $70 bucks everywhere for the JK.

And then $218. for a damn wiring harness?? Are the gold core?

Go to your local Uhaul store and ask for cequent 75168. Its a longer JK hitch that clears the rear bumper.

That's awesome, thanks for the recommendation... what did they charge you? Did you install or they did? No lights?

I think they were $135. I found one laying around our shop. Gotta install the wiring next

Is the electric socket that is included in the Tow Package on a separate bracket from the receiver? I might need to replace the factory receiver with one that extends farther out under the spare.

Had you thought about just getting an extender that you would use when you actually are towing versus having the receiver hanging out as a catch all...

Check out the Westin Receiver Tube Extender - Part Number: WES65-691301. Costs about $25.
You may be able to find a similar, less expensive offering at Harbor Freight, etc..

I am not sure if this is a right place to ask… this is my first question on the forum. Does anybody know what is the “hitch pin horizontal distance” (from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the outer spare tire) for the factory installed towing package, Rubicon, steel stock bumper? Ordered my Rubicon for the upcoming trip, need to order a cargo box ASAP to get it ready. Looking at the StowAway2 MAX, but they need to know this measurement to send a correct adaptor.

JK Hitches - YES !!! JK Wiring Harness - NO !!!

The bumper doesn't need to be taken off, just get underneath and you'll see two bolts in position 1 and 4 of the 4 bolt pattern of the JK hitch *yes it will work* although it has a plate with the receiving nuts welded on. Save the factory bolts and just re-use these unless your bolts with the JK hitch assembly/kit work with the welded nuts on the plate. Leave the plate there, just slide it up onto the frame (plate will be OVER the hitch plate, not under) and the holes will match. No need to take the muffler down unless you are so inclined to remove from the hanger. VERY VERY EASY INSTALL. Also, I went ahead and put on the JK Curt Class III hitch on as it is a bit more "heavy grade."

I have the LED light option from the factory so I can't tell if I am making a global statement, but the 4 pin wiring harness from the Curt (Model 55124) assembly doesn't match up. COMPLETELY different plug and I am not splicing just to get immediate gratification. I think I'll take the entire lens assembly to the rental store and just see if an existing wiring harness on a Chrysler product will work. I doubt it, but will give it a shot.
