Well...I have most of the things on order...
I will help as much as I can.
My goal is to change my steering column/steering sensor and have it elsewhere or completely replaced by something else....we will see how far I go with this.

Let's say my steering setup is non conventional.
"Old Jeep JK", with non conventional steering it was not an issue...
JL, on the other hand it is and it is a problem.
ABS malfunction = check engine light.
SCCM = check engine light.
The only way for me to know in what kind of "trouble" I was getting myself into, was to try.

I don't know if this helps... but with a good code scanner (eg. Jscan app or TazerJL) you can completely disable the electric power steering pump from the computers. This is for installing classic hydraulic pumps

I do have the Tazer and I have the electric power steering pump disabled.
But I do not have hydro assist, I went a different direction.
My "fight" now is with the steering angle position / check engine lights because of that that...and I do not want to have them.

uhmm... careful with that... the Stability Control system uses input from the Steering angle position sensor data

Yes, I am aware and for what I am using the Jeep, I do not need it.
I do not have a Steering position sensor, I have remove the gear at 0 degrees (for now) but I will try and install it again and see what happens.
I do not have a steering box/mechanical steering so the "rotation" position of the steering wheel is irrelevant (if it makes sense).
The jeep drives great, zero intervention from the Stability control (but yes, dash is illuminated and it is disabled).

With the steering angle ONLY determined by the clock spring. Are you removing the entire steering column?

The steering angle sensor is in the steering column.
All the clock spring does is carry the connection for the buttons in your steering wheel and airbag (and I have a work around for that).
As of now I have removed the gear in the steering column for the steering wheel position so supposedly is at 0 degrees....Jeep is not happy but is better then I thought to be honest.
This winter I will get on this project, right now I do not have a free weekend to play with this or time during the week!
