The ebike market is extremely hot right now. Example provided by the ridiculous pricing of Jeep ebike. However, most of us with "Jeep mechanical skills" could easily build our own.

I've built 2 ebikes for my wife and I by rescuing older bikes off Craigslist and then adding hub motors with controllers off ebay. We have been enjoying them trouble free for over 4 years.
PM'd you with a question?

About $1500 of that $6k is tariff because it's a China product.
There bikes are all from China. They are shipped in. Overpriced but the bikes are really nice. The trikes I don't like. I've known the guys who started QK and talk to them almost daily. Amazing how they went from assembling them in a tiny shed, to the multi million dollar warehouse they are building. They sell a crap ton of them.

Love the bike, hate the price, but I may get one because my age prevents me from keeping up with my son on long biking trips. As you get older, you generally have more money, less mobility, and this ebike balances out those factors.

You can always build an ebike.

When you look at their bikes, they are pretty sophisticated machines. This particular model looks like it's based on one of their top line all terrain (mountain) e-bikes. Buying this model for cruising the neighborhood would be akin to buying a current model 250cc dirt bike (motorcycle) to ride around in the neighborhood vacant lot. You can buy a nice neighborhood cruiser for $1500-2000 or buy a conversion kit for much less and make an old strand cruiser into one.

This is a very beefy bike! I test drove it with 5 passengers! Luckily, I rode top.

We're in Trabuco Canyon. This used to be the wilderness on the fringe of OC. However that has changed with all the housing developments getting closer and closer.

It may be time for a move.
Back in the '70s and '80s I used to hike and ride my motorcycle (street bike) up your way and yes, it was relatively pristine. I can't imagine what it must look like now.

Look at Google maps satellite view of Trabuco Canyon. In the 70s friends of mine used to shoot in there.

You could buy a Sur Ron e-moto, modify it and run 70 mph for far less money. You could have bought 2 of the new segway e-motos (during their kick starter)or the same money. They are just re-branded Sur Ron's

Yes, there was a gun range down the road

There are much cheaper options out there, which are actually better. It also has dual suspension which 99% of people don't need. I've been mountain biking for over 10 years and still own a hard tail... I would only have dual suspension if I was doing strictly downhill extreme MTB.
