The customization and ordering process that has never produced a final product?

Complaining about their build quality while at the same time saying that the build process should get more complicated is a take......I guess.
Saying it can't be done or can't be improved or can't be done better, is why companies like Space-X exists. Someone outside of NASA, who was the only game in town for in space exploration in the US, decided there's a cheaper and more efficient way to do things and built reusable rocket engines that land themselves.

It'll be interesting to see if anything does come of Slate, or Telo, or some other startups we don't know of yet. Maybe you're right, and it is too complicated for Jeep/Stellantis to figure out. I still think it's a pretty cool idea. However, like the Bronco, if they can bring something decent to market, maybe it'll make Jeep up their game again.

Yeah, and if you noticed my avatar my 4xe had no blue left when I got rid of it (except the inlay stitching on the seats). Traded it all out for orange. We all know it's possible to do whatever you want, and for many that's part of the allure. It would be a lot easier for others to just order it the way they want. But I guess that's what specialty off-road shops are for. It's understandable that going overboard on customization would necessarily add cost for everyone, and that's not ideal either. Surely, though, there have to be ways where the computer could pull out the right part or color that goes on that particular order for some parts.
From what I gather, Radical Red can be deleted on all trims with Rubicon. But only Rubicon with tan leather has that option built in. For those not in the know they see my interior and think it's just a Rubicon wannabe until they see the seat's Rubicon stiching not in red.

I did one and yet to do another interior mod to remove Wrangler. I used a Gladiator passenger side grab bar to replace the original. Yet to pull the smallish plastic door scuff plates with longer stainless steel that actually fit the contour from front seam to near the back of the door opening. The nice thing is they have no jeep marking etched in. Plain looking but much better than plastic. As for keeping stainless from rubbing through paint and effecting aluminum rocker panel, there is thick neoprene seals all around the perimeter. Something to watch out for when obtaining stamped sheet metal trim sections to add-on.

Skip the black grille its easy enough to paint
This one would be for the wife. The $400 is worth it so I don't have the constant reminder that I am not a professional painter. If it were for me, I would skip all the options except for the stereo.

I noticed while driving by my local Jeep dealer... 10 High Tides few Rubicons. Last year no High Tides and a bunch of Rubicons and Saharas. I guess painted bumper group is a hot ticket item with painted insert grills.

I like the black grille on the Willys. I think it kind of looks like a cute bandit mask.

If the OP waits another 5 years the next model will be out.
I just happen to have some inside sneak pictures of it in testing........

Slate Auto | The Customizable EV That Works for You

This seems like a fantastic process to allow people to build only what they want and open the market up to those who can't afford the higher priced vehicles (I know the Sport is out there, but this goes even further). Just my 2 cents, but I'd love to be able to do this to a Wrangler. Like, why do all of the 4xe's have to have that awful blue everywhere and the Rubicon's have to have that red?
Assuming that these ever go into production, and that they are successful enough to continue, their sales model will change. What they're doing/attempting to do won't scale well if they want to be profitable.

@gato

All you have to do is email this picture to a good dealer
OK. And how did you get to that picture? That is the issue, there is no way for a proespective buyer to generate an accurate config in the first place.

All the other brands I have even been interested in made it really easy and accurate to generate a config on their website.....but Jeep? No. That is too advanced for their programmers
I'm retired and
There had to be a reason why you don't mind driving and sitting on that tiny desk waiting for the barely articulate sales person type 3 letter 1960s code in his computer screen.

I'm glad the experience works for you. It does not work for me, when I know how much better other manufacturers make the experience.

Peace.

@OSCAR II, have you figured out what you DO want? That should be much easier than repeatedly telling us what you don't.
I thought we all collectively figured it out ... to complain.

Wranglers are designed for people who can tolerate things not working correctly all the time, ya know things that are a little less than perfect. Maybe not the most comfortable ride but it will get you their. They are trying to give you the Wrangler experience before buying.

But seriously, other than the 360 image never working, I can build different configurations all day long.

Look at how many threads there are in this forum debating if the Rubicon X includes the tow hitch and the auxiliary switches. Read them and you will see how many owners thought it did, but when they got their vehicles id did not. And how many dealers gave them the wrong info, and ordered messed up the ordering. Then read the desperation of owners trying to source the parts to install aftermarket. I still don't know the answer to the question. Best I can tell is that the Rubicon X includes the Trailer Tow Prep Package, but not the actual hitch. I it is insane. I believe you have to add a $95 option to actually get the actual hitch and switches. It is so messed up. That is just one minor example.

Yeah that was jacked up. The order guides are posted on the forumz so that’s helpful. I ordered my Jeep while on the crapper. Pretty easy process. However, my wife would argue I take too long on the crapper so maybe it wasn’t an easy process after all?

I honestly think @OSCAR II is confused and thinks the search inventory is a result of the build parameters he entered.
