I figured I knew what you meant by Vega engine, but I'm thinking the vast majority of people here didn't. That is, they'd have to guess what you were complaining about. I took one valid guess (assuming it'd get your goat) and it worked.

Have there been significant issues related to aluminum in these engines? I'm not aware of any. Aluminum in the body panels? Hell yeah. But in these engines? Not so much. But it gives you yet another excuse to sit back for five friggin years and not buy one. You've got that...if that's your goal.

What the fuck is up with your inability to simply say what you want? Are you saying you want a 2026??? Maybe a 2024???
You didn't get my goat, you asked and I gave you my truthful answer. Its a different technology just like renikisiling the 250 micro sprint. I don't want to deal with any of it. And there is a big difference between a static aluminum panel and the heat cycles of an ICE.
Even though I've read the paint horror stories I like the aluminum panels, who wants rust.

Of coarse I'm looking to buy a 2026, I'm looking to buy new. Not looking for an old vehicle.

There are a lot of people who want a mythical Jeep that isn't being made, but you aren't going to just will it into existence. There are currently 5 powertrain options. If you don't like any of those, then I guess you will likely have to wait for the next generation of Wrangler, which will have even more electronic components that you seem to have issue with. It's not going to get better than what is available now. Every year they add more electric components to the vehicles being built.
I only see two power train options. I have no interest in the 2.0t and there is no automatic offered with the 3.6.

Next generation, Noooo. Well depends on the engines available. From the rumors, I want no parts of them either.

There's no "of course" about it. You repeatedly say what you don't want, not what you do.

Maybe in your head you're being clear. That's not how it comes across when you say what you don't want.

Think about if I was trying to tell you which state I wanted to live in and one by one, over many conversations, told you which states I did not want to live in. It's soooo much easier to simply get to the point.

You're the one hung up on the start/stop, dont bring it up if not wanting to hear about it.
I know I'm stuck with the lawnmower battery version. Yay, I'll have to replace my batteries every year or every other.
I keep bring it up cause you keep bitching about it. When you continually refuse to say what you actually want, we don’t have any choice but to reference the things you say you DONT want. After multiple people have asked what you want in a jeep, I would have thought you’d get the hint by now that we haven’t figured it out from your list of dislikes.
Multiple people have tried to help you find what you’re looking for based on what you don’t like and you keep finding something else not to like. Either give us the list of what you want so we can try to help or shut the fuck up and go away.
And stop saying your hoping the 12 for 12 thing gives you an option you like. Anyone with half an ounce of common sense knows they aren’t going to put a special power train configuration in those. That’s a major production line change for a limited run thing. No chance.

No, it is a carpy system but I'm stuck with it (well, I'm not its not available in the packages I want) I just feel its the lessor of two evils.

I'm not interested in a 2025, not looking for an old vehicle, certainly not for new money.
Why I keep saying Vega engine? Its the cheap aluminum cylinders. I've sleeved to many aluminum blocks. Only one reason for it... MONEY.
Make um cheap and stack them deep. And I'll repeat if those two engines are my only options its not ment to be. Hoping for something in this 12 four 12.

Not buying American hmm you dont know me at all.
Come on Ratbert stop trying to spin things ugly.
I will say I have appreciated the work you do here.
Wait, THATS the reason for the Vega comments? That’s even dumber than i thought.
1. Aluminum metallurgy, casting, and heat treating from the 70’s to now might as well be a different industry.
2. All of the “too many” aluminum blocks you say you’ve sleeved are a minuscule percentage of the hundreds of thousands of cars with aluminum cylinders that are running perfectly fine with high mileage. These aren’t high horsepower builds.
3. The 3.6 is the one having the most issues out of all the engine options for the JL.

I like McDonalds and want to buy some, but I don't like what they offer on the menu.
I've waited five years for them to add what I want to their menu, but they don't seem to get it right.
I'm willing to wait another five years but they better figure it out because I'll be really pissed by that time.
Luckily my Mickey D's change purse has been filling up as I wait.
Got a lot of quarters now...

Why is it so hard for McDonalds to bring my wishes to fruition?
And no, I don't want to order any burger, chicken, or breakfast items.
I want new stuff.
NEW STUFF I SAY !!

Its the first thing asked. And the first toggle on the website with the default set to lease.
Then go through the build, click check inventory and all it shows is station wagons. No way in no where did I click that I wanted a station wagon.

They're trying to push what they want, not what I want.
It was right there at the overlap when I start thinking about it (and that was before I experienced it). And out of the two I want nothing to do with e torque... we had nightmares with them. And again there was a few time I could get an automatic with V6 without etorque, I just missed it.

Can't get a 392 in a jeep. I don't need it, don't really want it. I'm satisfied with how the V6 performs. Would I buy it if it was available... idk

Even if the 5.7 was available, I would rather that over the 392. But they are both more then I need. Then how much would the dealers be charging extra and above for it. Paying more then sticker is just silly!

Am I going to keep hanging around, probably not. If nothing to my liking comes from this 12 four 12. I'll be content with what I have.
There will be no Vega engines in my jeep.

So youre one of those people that just likes to complain to avoid buying anything. We have a ton of those around here. Also seems like you just dont understand new tech and are afraid of spooky turbos and batteries.

Exactly. Hopefully it goes the same this time around. The hardest part is waiting for it to go from Scheduled to In Production!
Yea refreshing the trackers every day was the worst part for sure lol

A valuable link for sure.

But, there is still no way to generate the specific configuration from the Jeep website like there is in all the European companies for example. So you have to basically tell them somehow the options you want, they need to input it in the decrepit 1970s style computer program, then send it back to you, then you need to review for accuracy, make sure neither of you made any mistakes with the archaic 3 letter codes from the 1960s.

Then you have to repeat that process for all the dealers in that database to determine the best deal.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
Sounds like you might get exhausted going to the fridge for another snack cake.

Dude can buy a Jeep and take it off road and enjoy it for what it’s intended knowing there’s no perfect Jeep out there and never will be.
Or spend another 5 years listening to the complainers and gloom and doomers on this forum, and creating imaginary hurdles to prevent a decision.

Its like the people that are chasing every oz of weight. Its a 4500+lb vehicle there is no such thing as light with the JL.

You don't think they could learn anything from the customization and ordering process? Jeeps are like giant adult legos. I would think it could be a huge boost to the ordering process for customers if they offered better customization options up front. Again, just my opinion.
I haven't gone through the 8 pages of this thread, so forgive me if someone already addressed this, but just how much more do you want to pay for your Jeep?

Instead of the Jeep rolling down the assembly line with a certain trim option, you have each one stop up and down the line so someone can see which bumper, which top, which this, which that, etc., and many of these would not be simply picking something out of little tray next to you, after seeing which bumper this one needs, you have to go get the steel one, the black plastic one, or one of the painted ones in whichever color is matched to the color of the Jeep . . .

@gato and @OSCAR II y'all are about to get my ass in trouble because I am about to order a Jeep just to show you guys how easy it.

All you have to do is email this picture to a good dealer (note for Oscar II: it doesn't matter if you click lease or buy they give you both options and this is also an easy way to articulate to the people what you want), spend 5 minutes on the phone, send a down payment. Wait for it to be built and arrive at the dealer. Spend 20 minutes on the phone finalizing paperwork, go to dealer, test drive, go inside to sign a piece of paper, drive home. I spent maybe 20 minutes total at the dealership including test drive.

My Rubicon has no red as a delete option... but the locker inlay is.
Yeah, and if you noticed my avatar my 4xe had no blue left when I got rid of it (except the inlay stitching on the seats). Traded it all out for orange. We all know it's possible to do whatever you want, and for many that's part of the allure. It would be a lot easier for others to just order it the way they want. But I guess that's what specialty off-road shops are for. It's understandable that going overboard on customization would necessarily add cost for everyone, and that's not ideal either. Surely, though, there have to be ways where the computer could pull out the right part or color that goes on that particular order for some parts.
