Jeep Wrangler JL Jack Storage Drain Plug Changes (2)

Noticed on my '24 there's now a drain plug in the compartment where jack is. Was this added before, on 21-23? My '20 would hold water for days if it rained when the back was open.

My 2019 has the plug there. Can't remember if it has the hole in the middle or if you have to pull the plug to drain the area.

On my '18, I was cleaning the cargo area and pulled out the jack/kit. The vinyl bag holding the lug nut wrench was filled with rust and all the pieces were completely eaten by rust!

Before I plunged my hand into the pool of water, I figured it would be smart to ask the Google. In the end, I found a drain plug identical to the one in the original post.

I forgot all about the jack storage area, but today noticed water moving thru the windshield screw holes in the jack storage cover. I was putting the Jeep back together after yesterday's downpour.

I found rust on the jack and lug wrench on my '23 a while back. Fortunately it had just started, so I was able to take a wire wheel to it, but I'm guessing the cargo hold for it holds moisture if not outright water. I bought a bottle jack, a breaker bar and 22mm socket that I keep elsewhere in the Jeep just in case.
