These pictures are the bolts on the top of the cowl on both sides of the vehicle. I noticed the rust and rust stains this morning when washing my Jeep. I have never taken these bolts out or even unscrewed them. The Jeep is only about 18 months old, is this common?

I’d make an appointment with the dealer and get it checked out. I’ve only had my JL for 3 months but I don’t think that’s normal.

Mines about a year old, no signs of rust. I'm sure others will post to verify.

No, not normal... Stop by dealer and talk to them. Those will be replaced under warranty.

My 2015 JKU had that issue with the cowl bolts. I replaced them with better quality bolts.

I have yet to see the issue on a JL, but it should definitely be covered under warranty as others have stated.

" and repainting two of my doors due corrosion..." What kind of door corrosion are you talking about? Hinges or the doors?

Heh... you should see my lug nuts. Rusty AF. Had to replace 'em after 6 months, and it wasn't even winter yet!

Looking at your hardware, it's clear they weren't painted. Mine are all painted--same color as the Jeep--presumably when they painted the vehicle.

It appears that the phosphate coating on the bolts is too thin or the bolts are out of spec for corrosion resistance. The corrosion is also affecting the paint.

I would say it is not normal.

Mine is 2 yrs old and doesn’t have that. I’d recommend selling yours. I’d be willing to take it off your hands for $100.

Thanks all, have an appointment for Monday so we'll see what happens.
Aldo, I live about a half mile or so from Long Island Sound, so kind of but I've never had issues with previous vehicles.
