Maybe.

But like I said, there’s no way to know that from the driver seat.
OP did say *...they [the TPMS sensor] have just came lose."

I suppose the sensor having come lose may be a sensor issue that the dealer should warrant but also think it's better than 50:50 that it is a result of Sam's work who had recently removed and reinstalled it sensor.

I can't believe there is a thread on this forum where I actually am taking the dealer's side. I would have no expectation that this issue would be covered under warranty. I think the only thing the dealer did wrong was how they explained it.

If you lift your jeep with the XR package, and problems occur ,they'll tell you its the lift and not warranted. You need to go to a quality shop. Maybe from from a sport S and change everything

How did the 35’s change the ride/drivability with the 4.88’s? I’ve got a manual with 4.88’s and want to go to 35’s.

Huh? Did I read this wrong?

You had new rims and tires installed at Sam's. Sam's would have installed the TPMS sensors in the rims.

Why would the dealer warranty Sam's work?
Exactly. ?

Why not disable the TPMS and be done with it for the entire life of the Jeep? TPMS is the worst.
TPMS is great if it's done right.

I can look right on the dash and see what pressures I've got. That's pretty cool. I can even use it to fill up or air down my tires.

When you changed from 33" tires to 35" tires, did you have a Jeep dealer calibrate the speedometer/odometer. It is a contract with Jeep and cost about $120 and keeps the warranty up to date. If you did not do this, Jeep and the Jeep dealer can not determine the actual mileage to meet the terms of the warranty due to the tire circumference change.

I got 35’s and even paid more to have 4.56’s dealer install (also recommended aftermarket for recal, in writing on printout) because he said they “Normally” look the other way for warranty when they install. Definition of “Normally” to be determined with an issue.
Ha! I too paid my dealer $2,000 for a Mopar lift thinking “they’d look the other way for warranty when they install...”. Turns out I was dead wrong: only a week later they refused to do the steering box TSB because “the Jeep has been modified...”.

After a heated exchange, that was the last time I set foot at that dealership, two years ago now.

I found another dealer happy to do the TSB. It doesn’t care that my Jeep has a lift and 35-inch tires; it now takes care of all my Jeep’s —and my Fiat’s— service and warranty needs.

Yea-Yea-But-But-But, He actually Said It, a service writer Lie-Nah, that never happens…… they had a good one, went out of her way for you, even had me come in on a Saturday when the HMFIC wasn’t there and took care of a reprogram on my GC he wouldn’t authorize. Honest, did what was right— probably why she isn’t there anymore. Merry Christmas.

To further clarify:

I went to the dealer that day on other business and it was on the way up there that the TPMS triggered. While I as there I walked over the Service Dept and said my TPMS came on and its only on the passenger side, in fact both came on at the same time.

HIS FIRST WORDS: "What kind of tires do you have?" GY Duratrac, 35 x 12.50s. To which he INSTANTLY replied, those do come on your JLR so there is no warranty coverage at our dealer.

FYI: Dealers have no obligation to warranty or repair your vheicle if its been altered in any way. Back in the TJ days Flat Fenders became the rage among the rock guys, they were wide to deal the 12:50 & 13:50 tires, and they sat a bit higher to clear the 37s. A dealer where I lived would NOT work on your TJ if it was flat-fendered and required underhood work in or out of warranty. WHY? One of the Jeep Mech's, was short and he had to stand on a box or something to get access to the underhood due to the flat fender and the lift (back in those days 6 in lifts were the thing) He slipped off the box and fell on the concrete floor IIRC he broke his arm and had a concussion from his head hitting the concrete floor. That dealer would not flat fenders as a result.

I NEVER asked the Sevice guy to fix it and besides the dealer where I bought it is in another city and Sam's club is only a few miles away and will run down next week and they will take care of it.

The Service guy was great, we talked for nearly 30 min. He told ther policy was very tight on any warranty work if you a non-OEM component. He said the tire has NOTHING to with the TPMS, but its a non-OEM tire that takes it out of warranty. What he said was legit...he said we got showing up with 40/43 tires and want warranty coverage on failed axles and suspension components.

Since 1984 I have ordered 17 new Jeeps, 5, COUNT THEM, FIVE times I have gone to the dealer for warranty support. I mostly action the requirement unless it calls for a replacement part...I only have one chance to have it done right the first time and that is why I rarely go in for warranty service, do it myself.

So drove my OTHER Jeep up there and called him out and asked if my LCA can be adjusted under warranty...

BIG TIME: I have the 4:88s in my JLR and that is what led me to replace the OEM 33s...this led to changing wheels also due to the narrow width of Jeep OEM wheels.

I love the 4:88, you do pay a price at the pump. At 70 mph I get 16.x mpg, around town it really varies from 14.x - 18.x mpg.

That said Here in Florida, WOW, lights turn green and they just sit there. You are a 3 lane street, 50-55 mph and you will have folks driving 25 mph. Its old people out here...yea I am old too, almost 80, but I drive like got 4:88 gears, IOW, GTFOMW.

DO the 35s but add the wheels I think mine are 9.5 in or so.

TPMS removed from stock wheel and tire setup and reinstalled in aftermarket wheel and tire, and you think it should be warrantied? If you did an engine swap and reused the factory water pump, do you think they'd warranty that? Maybe it came loose because it wasn't installed correctly...by Sam's club. Maybe it was damaged when installed...by Sam's club. If you want it repaired under warranty...go back to Sam's club? Why would anyone warranty a part removed and installed by someone else, inside a non-stock part? Swap the drivetrain from the JL into an old CJ, and then pull it in for warranty work?
DID I SAY THAT?

I did not ask for anything, I was there on other business and walked around to the Service, he came out to the Jeep and we talked about stuff for nearly 30 min, good guy. What he SPECIFICALLY stated, was the "35 in tire was NOT OEM and therefore they did not warranty the TPMS due to the NON -OEM TIre. He liked my wheels.

Please give me the common courtesy of reading what wrote!
