Starting a road trip this week for several weeks. I have the time to have an IGLA installed but is it worth it on the 392? Are these jeeps targeted like hellcats and TRX trucks? Is there another easy option?

There's a (probably correct) perception that soft top Wranglers get broken into more often than most cars. But as far as cars getting stolen I haven't seen any list that indicates Wranglers are more susceptible than common economy cars.

Have proper insurance, and park your truck in places you'd feel comfortable leaving any car. Outside of that, there isn't a whole lot you can do.

All good advice. We are leaving this Friday for a three week beach trip down the coast from Hilton Head to Jacksonville. Just trying to cover my bases.

It is a concern of mine. So I've done the following two things:

1. Bought a pair of Faraday pouches ($10 for two) on Amazon. One for my main key, and one for my spare.

2. Just ordered a hood lock from eTrailer so they won't be able to pop the hood so easy and get to the fuses (or steal the battery).

I spent way too much money on this new Jeep and I don't want it stolen.

Yes. They're stolen a lot and only take about 2 minutes to program a new key once they've gained access to the interior. Suggest adding a kill switch, especially for a 392.

I installed the BOLT hood lock. Here's my comments on this product (I like it):

I’m on this forum because my JKU was stolen last month and thinking about purchasing a new JLU.

On the Nextdoor app in my area, there have been several Jeeps reported stolen in the last two months.

My next Jeep will have some sort of security. I am aware it can still be towed, but I’d at least like to make things a little more difficult. I had 0 security/anti theft.

Keep in mind, my location is likely the reason Jeeps are a significant target here. I live in San Diego, CA and am less than 30 min. from the border and that’s exactly what they did with my Jeep, they drove it to Tijuana. I had an AirTag hidden inside and saw the location way after it was too late.

I'm sorry to hear about yours (or anybody's) Jeep theft. It makes me even more paranoid. Some sort of kill switch should be my next move (I need to research it).

Unless you’re active duty, it’s time to move.
