Knowing that my jeep wont get hacked started and driven away wile I am relaxing in my motel room after a long day on the trail
$700 is just another mod along with the $30k plus my thousands of hours I put into my jeep
Your jeep can get stolon any time any where in 2 minutes
The Ravelco is a mechanical (hard wired) device NOT ELECTRICAL DEVICE and it would take hours to diagnose why your jeep will not start or run

Here is what sold me

Hi Ravelco Guys: Just wanted to let you know how happy I am with my Ravelco. I have a couple of wise guys in IT who work in my office building who said they have a program and software on a laptop that can open and start my new 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. I thought they were kidding around, so I told them to try it. They unlocked it and also started it. I just stood there shocked that my new Jeep could be compromised (stolen) so easily. When I arrived home and very upset I Googled “best anti theft device” and your Ravelco was right on top of the first page. I liked what I read (testimonials). I called your office in Houston and asked that if I had a Ravelco installed could thieves start my vehicle with a laptop? The tech I spoke with at your office said absolutely not. So I made an appointment and had your company come out and install a Ravelco system. Believe it or not, your installers came out to my home in Magnolia on a Sunday morning. All week I have been waiting for the right time to ask these two IT guys who have been teasing me to try to start my Jeep once again. Cockily they accepted the challenge and since today is Friday, I told the dynamic duo that I had an anti theft device installed in my Jeep and they could not mess with it any longer. They just laughed and did not believe me so just before lunch I and at least 20 co-workers trekked down to the parking garage to watch these guys try to start my Jeep once again. On the way down the stairs in our hot parking garage I started getting worried and very nervous listening to them say it did not matter what I had installed they could scan it and get it. I was hoping that all the great things I read about the Ravelco system were true. AND YES THEY WERE! They could not start my Jeep. One of them asked me for your phone number because he wanted one. Do I get a commission? Only kidding.

For those that have not read other similar theft-related threads here, there are two facts you need to be aware of:

1. Ravelco requires A.) Cutting/splicing into your car's wiring harness, which means you may be trusting some untrained ape with not damaging your car's wiring and B.) routing a bunch of wires from the engine compartment into the cabin of the car through a hole in a firewall

2. Bolt hood lock is NOT compatible with the Jeep's front trail camera option

On another note, I saw a mention of IGLA and did some research on it. There is no mention as to exactly how it works and how it installs, other than some little box with wires being installed "somewhere" in the car (apparently the car owner does not even know where). Most of the links on the vendor's web site (https://iglaus.com/) are broken, which does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. The system seems to be made by a Russian company ("IGLA" means "needle" in Russian) and the vendor's product video is translated from Russian:

Does anyone here actually know how this system gets installed? Does it require cutting/splicing the wires? Does it just plug in? The

The Ravelco Anti-Theft Device has been around since 1976 and sold over 5,000,000 units without ever having a vehicle stolen by defeating the device

Would you not have a doctor operate on you because he is going to cut into your system

The hole point of the Ravelco is to disrupt the factor system making it impossible to start or drive
I watched the installation and was impressed with the quality of work
He ask me for a piece of heat shrink for the ground so that his ground would match the other grounds that I had installed making it indistinguishable between mine and his
That's called a professional
Yes. They do run a wiring loom and it looks like all the others and has 16 wires put not all are being used
To ohm out all 16 wires and figure witch wires need to be jumps is not going to take 2 minutes
The thieve have 3 option / move on / get shot / go to jail
I prefer the get shot option. Put then I would be the one going to jail

Exactly! Why someone lives where they do is complicated. Employment often being at the top of the list, followed by a long list of reasons. But having a vehicle stolen is not high on the list of reasons to relocate. San Diego offers a lot of great things. Temperate climate, no tornados or baseball sized hail being some of the advantages.
There is a reason the average home costs >$1M in the area (my guesstimate). Easy to dismiss it as "overpriced" but the reason is that people, who have their own motivations and resources, willingly want to live there and are willingly paying for what it offers.

Regardless, I am glad to have stumbled on this thread. See like there are some good antitheft devices out there I was previously unaware of.

Agree. Getting one installed right now. Had to park in the airport parking garage a few weeks ago. I was worried I was going to come back to a empty spot. Las Vegas airport parking is a massive hotbed for car theft.

Holy smokes, Ravelco costs $799.

Probably worth it if you live in a high-risk area or don't park in a garage, but that's a lot of money for an anti-theft device.
Think of it as a 1% premium for theft insurance. Less expensive (relatively speaking) than Applecare on an iphone.
had Ravelco installed recently and very happy with it. Outside of flat tow style theft, feel confident the jeep is protected from being stolen.

We just had the Compustar/Drone combo installed on our 24 Rubicon 4xe. The Ravelco seemed like a good option until we realized that we get annoyed by seemingly simple things in life now and having a plug that went in every time would probably end up with us defeating ourselves. We live in the Denver area and found a great place that does IGLA and Compustar installs. Colorado Car Audio in Golden. The place is very clean, everyone is super professional and friendly and after having a consultation with the owner and Devon, we decided to go with the Compustar/Drone. It's pricy, but we haven't purchased a new car in 17 years and the peace of mind is worth it to me. I would highly recommend Colorado Car Audio, if you are in the Denver area.

I would think the Ravelco would just be used when you were leaving the car in a place where theft might be an issue. I probably wouldn’t use it all the time. I can see how that would get annoying.

How much was the Compustar system?

Ravelco a mechanical device using 16 pin 16 wires with 100k different combinations
I am the only one that knows where and how to bypass the system and it would take removing a lot of components to do so. Put doable
Others are electronic devices so what do you do if they fail ????

The ultimate anti-theft device. I can park my jeep with the top and doors off downtown Denver and no one will touch it lol

I had a Ravelco installed in my 392 a few weeks ago after reading about Jeep thefts. While I'm not super worried as I park in a secure garage, I echo what was said earlier. I tend to remove the plug when parking in unfamiliar areas and when I am away for extended periods of time.

It took maybe 2 hours to install and I have no issues with it at all. My understanding is it intercepts starter and fuel pump circuits (won't start without plug and motor will stall if removed while running).

I have not read this entire thread, so perhaps somebody else has already covered this. I know the Apple air tag is not recommended for theft prevention because it makes an audible sound, when in the presence of an iPhone. I have one in my wrangler and have deactivated the speaker which is an extremely easy thing to do. There are many videos on YouTube that show you how to do it. There are no wires or anything but you need to deal with as the speaker is coil driven so you just remove the speaker like a coin cell battery. If the car thief has an iPhone, they will be notified that there is an air tag nearby, which is still OK with me as I have the tag hidden somewhere that I think it would take them a long time to find and I doubt a car thief will want to do that. So far I am very happy with this solution, as re-subscribing to the serious mobile protection service was cost prohibitive in my opinion.
