sky top was a game changer for my wife.
This is where I'm at. At first I scoffed at the thing, but then I started to realize it would allow her to use 'a giant sunroof' every day without me needing to dick with her soft top or freedom panels. Her eyes lit up when I finally showed her the S.O.T. That pretty much sealed the deal right there. Now we're just stuck on color choices.

Been doing research on here for a while, even posted another thread but didn't get any traction.

I finally decided to order my perfect Jeep, with the intention of getting the sky top for a few years then removing and putting on a hard top....I was placing my order and dealer told me it is a permanent fix in the Jeep and you CANNOT swap out because the rails are linked to the frame.

I have been getting mixed responses from different dealers, so I'm hoping yall can shine some light in the subject...I'm ready to go and finally join the club, but if the sky touch cannot be removed I'm not getting it....hoping it can but please let me know!
It is permanent.

Somewhere on here is a thread where someone bought a powertop from a salvage yard on eBay. It takes you through the process of installing one, and parts list to do it.
Find the thread and read it backwards :giggle:, or at least do what he did in reverse.
This was done before the first one was released, so the top must have been a test model. He got it working, and later sold the Jeep. So the info is on here , somewhere.

IDK, maybe I am weird, but WTF would you get a $5000 top, just to replace it in a few years with a real JEEP top?
ohh and for those that do not know...A soft top is the real JEEP top.
Sky one Touch is an abomination and should have never been an option on a wrangler IMO.

Did the Liberty with that craptastic roof teach you people anything?

Ever seen a pic of a doorless, side windows out Jeep with the sky one touch?
If you think that looks good, I have a piece of doodie to sell you.
Put these doors on and you have good looking Sky One Top Jeep. Full Airflow is great. How much is your doodie? ;)

The only thing that bothers me about the Sky Top is the back window. Could have designed a track system to have slide in when up.

Doc... Duh.
I ordered mine with. Do I like the look of doors off with the sky one touch. No. But 99.9% of the time my doors will be on and the ease to open and close it can’t be beat.

Hard top is storage issues and you’re screwed if you’re out and the weather goes south.

Soft top sucks in winter with the acrylic windows and the trunk is a pain without a window that goes up. Another thing is the security. I can go tooless but then close it up and it’s pretty secure. The metal frame means most robbers aren’t going to get a ladder to cut into the soft top and try to scooch between the frame rails. It’s as secure as hardtop up so no need for lock boxes and crap.

Pretty sure I posted this but it CAN be removed...not hard, but hard to realign...and would need additional parts for a hard top.

that said, I’m more than likely never switching it...i see the same suckers hating on the top with their top on most of the time because they don’t have the time to remove their top...not me, I’m fully naked in under 10 minutes, driving you don’t notice the difference and one you lift it it actually looks really good...why spend so much on a top? If you u can afford it, why not?

I have been going Topless in this cold weather now and I can take Rear Windows off-put both in Bag under 4 mins now and open Sky Top and go !!!
I have seen Many Jeeps so far closed up like can of sardines, Saw Lady Monday in her Jeep in 41-degree temp Topless with Big Red Down Coat on but she was Topless.

Uh, my soft top folds down in 10 seconds. Give it another 30 seconds to fold up and latch.

Don't know why you all are saying the Sky One Touch is the only top option that let's you drop the top easily. Hard top is obviously not easy, but the soft top is easy as heck and fast.

And no, I have no issues with the soft top in winter.

Its the Plastic windows you deal with on Soft tops. They mark up easy and get stiff in Cold weather. That's a good reason to enjoy Sky One Top.
My son has Soft Top he likes it so it's what you want for your Jeep that matters. :jk:

The One Touch windows are stiff in either hot or cold...;)
Ahhh I get it Stiff as Glass. Cute. Roll right down and Rear Quarter panels come off 30 secs. Been driving Topless already low 30's. Love the cold. I see Jeeps closed up like Can of Sardines around here. I have seen one fellow Jeeper Topless at the store when it was 41 degrees. Talked to him. He loves the cold too.

My wife was lobbying for the One touch. I am curious about noise and wind resistance with the rear door being stationary (as I understand it). Any comments on wind, aerodynamic related issues like noise and such?

Our sky one is quieter than a 2017 MDX w/ the roof rails and cross bars installed. I am not a huge fan of the look w/ the doors off and the rear window on but the convenience factor pays off especially in the cooler months here at the beach in DE. Our JLUR is primarily for road trips and winter use as we have a TJ we run w/o the doors and top 5 months a year.

I am a new Jeep owner. My Sky One to me doesn't sound bad at all. My son has a soft top and I rode in it and its noisy and wind flaps some. That's one reason I didn't even think about Soft top and Hardtop just too much trouble to remove easily. I have seen Jeeps with hardtop off get caught in Texas Storms and get soaked. I have been driving open and ran into rain and closed the top and opened after ran out of the rain. I like that part. I got some Vicious Off-road doors for x-mas but haven't put on yet. I have seen on a forum the Black Jeep with doors off and can see why some people make comment about the look. The half-doors will make it look better to me. I hope to put mine on soon.
I can tell you that being here in Texas and coming from Ram owner the Jeep inside with Sky Top is hot sitting in sun during summer here. I knew it would be hot like soft tops are but man it's hot sitting for while in 100-degree heat. The owner of the Black Jeep photo says he gets more airflow than other Jeeps he has been in. The second photo is my half-doors that should make the Jeep look better opened.
