For those of you with the sot
Can you drive around with the back side windows off and rear glass open.? Kinda like the soft top with the back soft window and rear side windows off ? Also anyone running the hot head liners with this top?

Yes you can do that nothing prevents it. I have the hot headliner and it is worth every penny. It quites the cabin down marginally but vastly improves the vehicles ability to hold heat or cold inside the cabin. Also looks like a finished Jeep on the inside instead of the tent look from the factory

I wouldn't drive on any bumpy roads with the rear glass up or you'll end up spreading broken glass out behind you. But otherwise, yes, you can get pretty open with the SOT.

I would not suggest driving with the rear glass in the open (up) position.

The SOT can be totally removed if you want. Do a search on YouTube for a video of the removal and installation process.

Honestly, once you remove the side windows, open door windows, and open the top, the rear glass is not that big of a deal.

I also would like to add that it’s not recommended to drive around with the back window open. It’s not designed to do so without risking damage.

Additionally, with all of the windows open and top totally open, there is surprisingly little to no buffeting inside.

Rear corner windows off with SOT open and the other 4 windows up is a great breeze on a slighty cold morning.

Has anyone tried locking gas struts, so it doesn’t slam down? But I suspect that a large enough bump could still shatter it.

Might not drive around with the back window open now that I know it costs $1,000 to replace!

It’s the bouncy shock on the rear glass from how it’s mounted. Bunch of JK peeps have had there’s break from riding with it open. And I believe they were a little thicker glass.
On road is probs ok but hard bumps etc will risk it.
I wouldn’t run it open. Fwiw

Yes. Unfortunately. Don’t do it.
Short story: works fine while driving. I went to close window (forgot it was locked) kaboom- shattered into a million pieces.
Thankfully Geico covered it without deductible.

I second the don't drive around with back opened. My wife likes her SOT. It's pretty open, not like a hardtop off but open.

I have the SOT and love it! I added the Hotheads headliner and the sunshade…worth every penny! Pretty simple install and it makes it a lot cooler and quieter (headliner) and the sunshade really cuts the glare. I had the roof all the way back and windows rolled down for Go Topless day and it was awesome. I could have popped out the 2 back windows but didn’t want them bouncing around when I was wheeling (we were at an off-road rec area).
