Is the red dashboard a random install or specific to certain trim package?

During the build do they just throw a red dash in randomly or is it supposed to be specific to a particular trim package? I am confused because I thought the red dash indicated Rubicon. However 2 of our Rubicon Jeep Wranglers have the grey dash and the latest edition to the family, a Rubicon Reign, has a red dash. Which, of course I hate. Red & purple don't play well together imho.

All have black/grey interiors. Two are gas, one is electric. The one with the red dash is gas, if that helps.

Rubicon gets the red dash 100% of the time, UNLESS it is ordered with a tan leather interior, which results in a grey dash.

Also the 4xe Rubicon doesn't get a red dash (forget if it's grey or blue.

None of our Rubicons have tan or leather interiors. All were bought off the lot. Two were bought from the same dealer, and both have the grey dash. Could the dealer have specifically ordered them as Rubicons with a grey dash/grey interior?
The 4xe Rubicon has a grey dash. Blue would've been cool though.

I think the red dash is only changed if your Rubicon was built on a Tuesday with a full moon during a leap year. Otherwise, the interior seat color, paint color, or 4xe are other factors to why it was changed.

I was going to say maybe you could swap the red dash with one of the greys, but TBH red wouldn't look very good on any of those colors, lol.

The red dashboard is a large part of why I have a Sahara and not a Rubicon. To guarantee the grey dash, I'd have had to spend $2K to get tan leather and then another $2K for Katskinz to change back to black - $4K just to get rid of the fugly red dash+stitching.

Congrats on having a Bikini Pearl one though - there are a few of them around me and it's such an eye-catching-yet-unoffensive color. At first blush I called it a chick color but the more I see it, the more I really like it.

Still hoping they bring back Rhino - I'm a sucker for a nice subdued blue.

I can't say I've ever seen a 4xe with a red dash, so that might be normal. Purple Reign, if it's a gas engine, should be a red dash. Bikini... only seen those from a distance...

I asked about this at the dealership when looking for mine. Here was the answer.

In 2019, most Bikini Pearl JLURs with a black/grey cloth interior got the grey dash.
In 2021, most Granite Crystal 4xe JLURs with a black/grey cloth interior got the grey dash.
In 2023, most purple Reign JLURs with a black/grey cloth interior got a red dash

Bikini is one of my favorite colors. But I believe that was in the same boat as Punk'n, Jeep (FCA, then) decided that they didn't look good with red dash. I personally disagree, but the gray dash on mine has grown on me (NB, I did get a Willys so it came with gray dash stock but I wanted to swap it out before i got it...no longer).

I think that Stellantis did not make any color distinctions so purple gets red, when possibly three years ago that would not have been the case.

And as someone below me metioned, 4xE does not get red dash either.

Nothing constructive to say here, other than the red dash is hideous.
I wouldn't purhcase a Jeep that had the red, again hideous.

392 came with grey.
