With the LED headlamp and fog lamp group being $1495 I have to wonder if it's really worth it.

If you ordered today, would you buy it? The wife and I are going to order a 2 door sport S and want to get it ordered soon.

Our order looks like;
2 door Sport S
Bikini
Dual door group
Hardtop
Convenience Package
Possibly LED group
Automatic

Cheers! :jk:

I bought my jeep used so i never had to pick the option, it was just included. You could always look for someone selling their OEM headlights and save a few bucks there and have the dealer flash so they work. Or just go straight aftermarket. Oracle has a lot of great options. You're really paying a premium on OEM for the integration etc.

I love them personally, i think they look great and I'm very pleased with aiming/cuttoff etc. I can't comment on aftermarket for the JL but I know with my XJ i had to do some aiming/the scatter is much worse for any aftermarket LEDs as I've tried 3 different ones. The auto on/off highbeam feature is great as well. I'm also a sucker for the daytime runners on LEDs in general and just love that look.

I know you have the door package on there and that's a decent expense so is it a priority for you on top of everything else is the question. But i know the led package was something i would have ordered if I were to order new.

Clearly I'm biased ?

LED setup is MUCH better than the halogen setup. I would definitely get them again. I am perfectly able to swap out for aftermarket LED setups, but I wouldn't want to void out any part of the new vehicle warranty. The factory setup is pretty good and if I did swap out because I got halogens it would only be for the lighting and safety aspect and not other aftermarket features like color changing and light shows.

There are plenty of threads on factory LED option vs Halogen. Most people who post on this board comment on how much they dislike the Halogens.

I didn't think the LED headlights were worth the money when I bought my JL last year and I still don't think they are. I don't do a lot of night driving but thus far the halogens have done just fine. If I felt they needed to be brighter swapping in LED bulbs is (from what I've seen) a pretty cheap and straight-forward option.

I have added a set of cheap LED ditch lights mounted on the cowl and wired to the AUX switches if I'm ever parked and need to spotlight something. The total for lights, brackets and wiring was about $100.

I'll admit I like the look of the halo with the OEM LEDs, but not for nearly $1500.

OEM looks good, but it’s not the only option that looks good.
Just know if you don’t order the LED group, the halogens are comparable to a candle in a hurricane and you’ll definitely want to upgrade.
So you might want to have an option in mind or already ordered.
@ORACLElights Oculus is outstanding. I’ve been running them on my Sport since they were released and they’ve been flawless. Great cutoff, excellent coverage and the halo fuse tap makes for an easy install.

That said, I have the LED package on my Rubi and they have also performed flawlessly. The cutoff is not as sharp as the Oracle Oculus, but the coverage is equal.

There are a lot of aftermarket headlight/taillight options that are cheap, look good but stop working as designed after a few weeks/months. Read reviews and talk to people on the forum to avoid making a mistake. Buy once, cry once.

A newbie with the wranglers and LED lights here. Own a 24 Sahara for just over a month. The LED's are standard on the Saharas, but I would have paid extra if only offered as option.

This is because my other recent car purchases have LED lights and they are far superior over the halogens in terms of brightness, coned light field of view, and longevity. No comparison. Also the DRL's are pretty cool with the halo of the headlight being part of it.

There is one drawback to the LED's as reported by a user either here or the wrangler forum. As they produce minimal amount of heat, in severe snow storms, the snow accumulates in the recess in front of the lights.

We have come a long way since when I first started to drive when the headlights were incandescents. LOL.

Bought a Willys, which came with the LEDs, but they're great. I did aftermarket with my JK and it wasn't as good. They were very finicky and never quite worked as well as the OEM and they were high-end aftermarket. Can't remember the brand, but pretty much the most expensive option at the time. Also, if you ever trade in, you will likely have to revert to stock. Dealers hate anything that wasn't on the build sheet.

There's cheaper options than the OEM ones. Oracle for example you can get theirs for like 800 bucks.

Or you can do the smart choice and buy some LED headlight bulbs from China for $17.

As an added bonus if you do the bulb upgrade you can blind all oncoming traffic. Also it's really handy for blinding jerks who cut you off and/or road rage on you at night. Just flip your highs on for instant gratification!

That happened to me on Monday on my drive to work, putting along under the speed limit, this guy cut me off last minute. He bounced around between lanes when I was trying to get around him, finally I just threw my highs on and held back enough distance to thoroughly blind the crap out of the guy. After about 2 minutes, I safely passed him, though I made sure to give him some Dixie Horn love as I passed. He tried to blind me with his highs after he started the whole damn thing, but thankfully I only have a driver side mirror, so it was extremely ineffective. ?

Not worth it. Go aftermarket LED bulbs.
Lasfit LED bulbs are amazing for both headlights and fog lights. Plug n play. No flickering. Light up the road in front of you without blinding oncoming traffic. Best I've owned.

Before my Wrangler, I came from a WK2 grand cherokee with standard halogens, and I swore I would never buy a Jeep with standard halogens EVER AGAIN.

Thankfully the LED package came standard on my 4xe, buy if it hadn't then I definitely, without question, would have paid the extra $1495 for them. Even though I agree it's a ripoff price. Still would buy it, 100%.

I put halogen aftermarket Halogen H4 headlights on my TJ years ago. Probably helped some.

But I just turned 63, and my night vision isn't as great as it once was. So when I got my 23 JUL Willys XR, I was glad it came with the LED bulbs (I don't remember if it was the Willys or the XR package that included the LED package). I believe the LED package also includes LED taillights and everything else. I had read good things about them before I ordered my new Jeep.

What a difference the LED lights make with the new Jeep. I can see at night now! Makes me want to spend the couple hundred dollars it would take to put good LED headlights in the TJ.

Expensive for the factory LEDs in the JLU? Yeah. Is it worth it? For me it is. Can you get cheaper aftermarket LED headlights? Yeah, but I've heard too many stories of folks having issues with them.

There are certainly deals to be had. My 18 2 door didn’t come with led package. I won a steal at 175 shipped for oem headlights. 100 shipped for the foglights and 119 shipped for open box led tail lights that are very close to the oem styling from extreme terrain. So as you can see I’m at just under 400. I still have halogen fender lights. These prices aren’t the norm. Headlights usually run 450-800 depending condition, foglights are usually 50-125 depending on condition and availability, then the fender lights can be found for free but typically around 100 give or take.
If I were ordering new and paying say 5-8% under invoice or msrp or whatever order deal you find in your area.. despite the savings I’d just bundle it.

down the road when you go to trade or sell, it’s going to be an option on your Monterey sticker (window sticker).

Headlights are worth it--tail lights are ABSOLUTELY not worth it. The reverse lights are dangerous to the point that I added auxiliary reverse cubes that light up when I shift into reverse (also wired into auxiliary switch #4 to be used as work lights and installed diodes to prevent issues).
