I've been noticing a loud squeak coming from the back of the Jeep while I'm driving, especially when going over bumps.

I don't have any cargo in the back but it's hard to isolate where the sound is coming from since it only happens when I'm driving.

I opened the swing gate today and noticed some separation between the top hinge and the body. I tried lifting up on the gate and it doesn't feel loose.

For the record, I'm running the stock 33s that came with my rubicon and no mods to anything touching the tail gate.

With door open can you push it in, there’s 3 bolts that hold it to the tub, they might have come loose…

Push on the plastic guide for the defroster wiring on the driver's side. Mine creaks like crazy with the slightest provocation.

Thanks for the replies. I’m just glad to know the tailgate isn’t a concern, especially since I have plans to throw 35s or 37s in the future (with reinforcement of course).

I’ll look at cleaning the window seal and lubing it, and also the defroster. Never would’ve thought either of those could cause a squeak, but it’s worth a shot

Apply a piece of 3M across top lip of tailgate that makes contact with rear window rubber.

What Rick said. I just put a smear of silicone grease on the rubber seal at the bottom of the window. It usually lasts a few months, then do it again.
