Hot brakes can liquify. Once that happens they crystallize when they cool and harden. Requiring replacement of everything if you don't crash.

I switch to 4Lo when paved road ends lol. My record is 40 miles of 4Lo on WA BDR. Willys 4Lo is not too slow
Every time no matter what?
This nice hard packed dirt road, you know what it needs? 4L :CWL:

I swear by the Hill Descent Control (HDC) feature.

This is an ABS software implemented braking / transmission cruise control system that modulates wheel braking action in conjunction with engine torque control when descending downhill. Going down the steepest of grades at very slow controlled velocity with zero brake pedal input is pretty awesome.

Almost everyone I ask about using this feature on their JL almost always gives me the 'deer-in-the-headlights' stare. "What's that?"

I can't overstate how impressed this system works at making the toughest of descents amazingly simple. It allows the driver to focus on steering and navigation without needing to brake or shift while maintaining slow, safe downhill speeds.

Once you learn how to use it, it's so addictive. It's almost like parabolic skis; you never have to think about unweighting while edging again.

Enjoy the ride, stay safe.

Please don't use it on extreme descents (e.g. something like Red Cone). Your brakes will overheat and it'll end "badly".

I find it incredibly noisy and almost never use it. The duck button, however, can be pretty awesome for specific climbing scenarios.
