The integrated off-road camera is $695. Does anyone know what’s included in this grouping or what it does exactly that makes it so expensive? Does it record? Thanks

It's also HD and wide angle. If you're comparing to aftermarket camera prices, most of those are going to be RCA and 480i

It does not record, but it’s fully integrated into Uconnect and the off-road pages, it has a fluid line to washer fluid to clean it, and it’s a wide angle HD camera. Well worth the cost, considering most dealers are quoting $1700+ to install it later if you don’t get it.

Thought it was a gimmick but worth it. Cheat code for tire placement, especially passenger side.

Unfortunately if you have a grille flag like I do (diver down) it will cut off the the water channel to the cam. I can see mine but can't use the sprayer, which hasn't been a detriment yet. I could always punch a hole in the metal but haven't yet. I don't have a punch but think I could do it. But dont think the hole is worth it yet.

Anyone have info on if it is worth is punch a hole or yet to get the prayer back to the camera? I did it a few times to show family the feature, but not on trail yet. I've only done easy trails thus far. Fire roads and harder from there. I sorta want to but don't wanna fuck up the paint. I also only have the center 1/3 of the honeycomb grille attached still (rest holds the cam on).

It’s good for anything close up and tore placement mainly. Cresting hills also is a bonus. In Moab there are plenty of trails where that is a real benefit. Also, for tire placement, it’s beneficial on shelf roads.

At first I was a bit disappointed with the trail camera. I thought it would help to find lines while rock crawling. It is much to wide angle for this purpose. The more I used it, I discovered it was very useful in the following situations.
  • Very steep climbs when all you see through the windshield is sky
  • Cresting a hill
  • Helps to see upcoming tire placment on tire tracks on slick rock trails
  • Tire placement when on shelf roads

I wasn't aware dealers could actually get all the parts and do an install yet. Not worth it (for me at least) at 1700+ though to do.

Pro tip - treat the camera lens with Rain-X. When the camera gets dirty enough to use the sprayer, it usually leaves huge droplets that are impossible to see through. Rain-X solved this problem for me.

Yeah, from what I’ve gathered not all dealers can get the parts nor do they have the talent to do the install. A friend and I both ordered 4xe’s in July 2021, I got the trail cam and he didn’t, and he immediately regretted it once he saw mine. Took him over a year to find a dealer who could source the parts and install, and they charged him $1700+tax.

He contemplated just ordering a new 4xe with the trail cam, but didn’t want to sit on an order for another long period. Honestly, it probably would’ve been easier to just do that! Lol

I have one of the Tazer camera's that I added to my wife's JLUR. My best friend has one of the OEM trail camera's. If I could go back, that would be on my short list of must have's due to the difference between the aftermarket camera compared to the OEM. And in general, the sprayer is arguably the most important part, at least for me. Where we wheel part of the trails are dusty and I'll have get out and wipe it off with a rag.

The camera is high definition and the color balance is nice. The tire guide lines are very accurate. If you want to put the tire on a rock the guide lines are true. I think the camera view detail is better than actual view for the desert.

Absolutely worth the price with many nice features.
