I have noticed a significant increase in insurance costs recently. I have a 2021 JLUR, took delivery in March of 21 and it has 5300 miles at this time. Last year I paid $670 for 6 months coverage, now my bill is $820 for 6 months. I have had State Farm insurance on all of my vehicles (4 at this time) plus home owners, no claims for over 30 years and no traffic violations in over 45 years. Bodily injury coverage on all is $250k/$500k.
I am not looking for the absolute cheapest insurance, but I do want the best value (coverage) for cost.
Would like to hear what others are paying or similar vehicle coverage and their experience when filing a claim.

Would like to hear what others are paying for similar coverage and which insurance co.

Happy off-road trails.
Geo.

LOL! It's happening to everybody, everywhere. Insurance actuarial formulas are so complex these days. Best to bounce it off of a few different companies.

When you see the 1-800-4LAWYER ads all over the place the money comes from somewhere. Add to that the cost increase of vehicles and repair, the price of insuring that risk goes up.

I got my new 6-month policy last week and I'm up 37% since February, and I'm paying double what I was 18 months ago. No claims and no tickets.

OP, are you saying you're paying $820/6 mos. just on your Jeep, or is that for all 4 vehicles you own? I have State Farm as well. Three vehicles total including the Wrangler. I'm paying $348 every six months for the Wrangler for the same coverage you describe.

SF here. About the same as when I bought the rig in 2020.

State has a lot to do with it. Moved from DE to IL. Car insurance doubled. Umbrella went down by 1/2. No change other than location.

Florida is super expensive for automobile insurance. A lot of it has to do with Mr. (and Mrs.) Morgan, Mr. Newlin and all of their competition. Not much you can do when folks are willing to lie in court and sit in chiropractors offices in the hope of a big settlement.

Our rates are way up in CO, car and house. Auto thefts, hail damage, many more accidents (what other drugs can we legalize?), insane repair costs, etc.

With USAA I’m paying $475 every 6 mo just for the Wrangler with the same coverage. It’s definitely gone up this time.

For our two Wranglers and 50/100 insurance, we pay almost $1400 every 6mo in FL. No claims (other than windshield which doesnt count) and no tickets. Went through an insurance agency and went with Nationwide as they were cheaper than Geico or USAA. It has gone up about $300 every 6mo in the last couple years. Homeowners the same way.

Insurance has become a damn scam plan and simple. Mercury dropped my house this year with a 30 day notice after 15+ years with their auto insurance and 5 and a half years with home owner insurance. All due to the age of my house… 62 years old. But extremely well
Kept with recent all new incoming plumbing new A/C with all New ducting roof is only a year old. Kinda sad they dropped me like they did. Ended up switching to AAA and saving well over 1100 bucks a year between house and auto. Currently working on getting the rest of my family to make the switch after the bs o had to go through with mercury. Inwill
Never go back

My rate is up almost 20% in the last year. Had a windshield claim but my agent says it’s not a factor.

In May I spent hours reaching out to other companies and agents only to stay where I’m at. I’d find better rates on the vehicles but worse on the house or vice versa. I did find one combo with an independent agent (combination of two different companies through the same broker) but the net savings wasn’t enough for me to switch.

Unrelated but as I went through all this my dad and I were talking, he ended up reaching out to that same agent and signed with those two different companies for huge savings. He cut his total annual bill about 50% (cars, house, umbrella). He had been with his previous insurer since the 1980’s and it’s possible he was being fleeced. He figures worst case he ends up back where he was. Only time will tell.

The $820 is just for the 21 JL, my 05 Grand Cherokee is $325/6mo. I live in a small town, Pahrump, NV.

I always quote out to several companies at least every 2 years or sooner if there is a large increase. Companies don't seem to care about loyalty anymore so I don't worry about changing to another company if they are highly rated and less expensive.

It will vary depending on your locality too, but here's mine for Wake Forest NC. Also State Farm, and also have a separate personal umbrella policy, homeowners, and my wife's BMW on the plan.
