It sounds like the OEM retrofit and the Start-X are the same with three exceptions:Installing the factory remote start is exactly the same as if ordering it from their factory. It's a stand alone install (does not need any other options such as the proximity locks or anything). All the features of any Jeep, factory ordered w/Rem Start. To clarify, remote start is actually built into the vehicle. The part you replace is actually the RF Hub (which is why this has to be dealer programmed to the body computer...and that's a 20 min job for them). This is a much easier and cleaner install then any 3rd party install and you get 2 new key fobs, which include keys cut specifically to your vehicle (they need the VIN to order the kit so they can cut the keys to match and they program your old FOBs as well, so you end up with 4 FOBs). The RF Hub is located in the left rear of the vehicle and takes no more than 3 min to swap out (small box held with two 10mm bolts and one electrical connector). My dealer (who is just average) swapped the box and programmed for $99 and it integrates just the same as my '22 Rubi (with factory rem start). Locks the doors before starting, turns on the A/C or heater depending on the temp, and will shut off in 10 min if not "officially" put into RUN. It's a no brainer.
- There is a difference in price.
- Start-X doesn't require a dealer visit
- The OEM solution looks....more OEM, but it's OEMness is hidden behind the dash.
