man, if i where you I would at least test drive the 2.0 while you are there. This is my 5th jeep now and 2 out of the 5 have been 3.6 engines. I would never go back after owning my 2025 2.0, hauls @ss even with 35s and gets good mpg! Mine is extremely quiet, I know some say they sound like a tractor but so far mine is sewing machine quiet. I also have a 25 4runner trd offroad premium, so I know your landcruiser powertrain as well and the jeep just blows it away offroad in everyway!

My last Jeep was a 2020 EcoDiesel which I loved, but got disheartened by the constant electrical issues, and overheating (limp mode) drama. It was a beautiful jeep. Since then I have had a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro, 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2, 2025 Ford F150 Tremor, 2024 Ford F150 Raptor with the 37' Tire package, and as of May I am now driving a 2026 LandCruiser 250. I bought the land cruiser because I just wanted a simple reliable vehicle that can get me to my fishing spots and hiking trails while driving around the smokies. I do have one of the best Off Road Places in the East Coast (WindRock) right down the road from me which I miss driving.
Anyway the landcruiser is nice but it just isn't doing it for me because I am disappointed by how cheaply made this is. Everything is just plastic everywhere and not even good quality plastic. Everything is kind of a step down in quality compared to my Raptor to be honest.

Anyway I was considering getting back into a Jeep since I have owned many over the years and they are easy to work on for the most part minus the electrical system. My landcruiser is paid off and I was looking for an even swap on a Jeep Rubicon more or less. I an partial to the Anvil color with the 3.6 and found one in the Nashville area that I may go look at monday. I know this is a touchy subject but what is the latest consensus on the 3.6 vs 2.0? The 3.6 is simple but not without its own problems. Also are we still suffering from chronic electrical issues due to the abysmal charging system jeep has forced on us? Anything else I should consider?

admittedly I go through cars easily, but I always come back to jeep for some reason. I swore after my eco diesel I would never own another Jeep while Stelantis is in charge, but here I am. Unfortunately I need something that gets me off road, and there are not a lot of good alternatives to the Jeep. I do not like the Broncos, Land Rover is out for obvious reasons, I've had a 4 Runner and not interested in that again, and want to stay away from another truck for a while. Am I crazy for going the jeep route again?

Needing a psychiatrist aside, what are your thoughts?

I have a 3.6 2022 Rubicon, my wife has a 2023 Willys, 2L and with all the oil issues the 3.6 and driving both, the turbo is what I would go with if had to do it over, although I wanted a manual and only available on the 3.6L. I gets way better MPG and almost as much HP.
I can say I prefer the 2L
for what it is worth from my option, hands down 2L Turbo

Sounds to me you may have the recourses. why not have someone build you what you want instead of relying on a manufacture to do it for you. or go see these guys. America's Most Wanted 4x4
Hmm that's an interesting concept and probably a topic that would be interesting to discuss for everyone.

If I was to stick with the Jeep platform I'd have to say my dream build would be a 2004-06 LJ Rubicon fully restored with no bigger than 35's.
I don't know I'd have to give it a lot of thought if I were going to build something from scratch to suit my low tech desires.

We own one of each, mine being the 2.0. I prefer driving the 2.0. The v6 is more noisy and hunts higher rpms more to climb hills. Can't speak to longevity but as of now my vote goes to the 2.0.

2026 Willys 2.0T 2DR Hard Top in Mojito built for me!
I opted for the 2.0T because of its reported reliability over the past ten years.

I also got a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty, primarily for the electrical components because I got all the old lady comfort and "I didn't see that" electronics.
