Hello. I have a 2021 JL Rubicon Unlimited, and love it, except for one thing. The Auto Park feature, where if I want to go forward or back a few feel with the door open it goes into "Auto Park enabled - shift to Park, then back to Drive" - I hate it. I need to manuever with the drivers door open at times, to park in tight spots or to back up exactly 5", or whatever. Is there a way to DISABLE this annoying feature of my otherwise beloved Jeep? Thanks all for any help.

I plugged one of these in my rig 7 years ago and have never dealt with auto park ever since….

Either put your seat belt on or buckle the seat belt before sitting in the seat. Either option will cost you nothing.

Personally, three mirrors and a camera is more than sufficient to not hang out the door while backing up. Sometimes if it gets to be questionable, I stop get out and look then get back in to continue to back or go forward to adjust my approach or whatever.

Autopark will not work if you fasten the driver's seat belt or put the vehicle in 4-wheel drive low .

I was wondering why would you ever need anything more than mirrors to back up?

I really wish Jeep would implement a 360 degree camera system like Ford has. Besides parking, it would be useful off-road. To me it is the next logical step after offering a front trail camera. I kind of expected it actually when they did the refresh and went to the 12.3ā€ screen.

Also to OP, you could go to a junk yard and cut off the end of a seat belt and snap that into place.

It depends, career backer upper, a different level but jackknifing a 53’ trailer between two others with insufficient room in front not only required door open, hanging out, possibly left foot standing on the running board and that could be with a spotter. .. sure, a Jeep won’t be pulling a long trailer, but others like my son’s 40’ 5’th wheel are a close second for personal use.

auto park was a PITA with a gate, hook belt, slam door, pull up to gate, unhook belt, open door, open gate, slam door, hook belt, pull thru gate, unhook belt, open door, close gate, finally. It’s much simpler to not have to F with the belt and just hold the door pulling up and thru.

The newer generations are much less annoyed by nanny-features designed to save us from ourselves and reduce the number Darwin awards, but I feel your pain.

Hey brother, how have you been?

I admit I’m not getting this. We have a gate, and a 2020 Sahara and a 2021 Rubi. I pull up to the gate, put it in park, remove belt, open door and leave it open, open gate, get back in Jeep and close the door, put it in drive and drive through the open gate WITHOUT putting on my seatbelt. Repeat process to close the gate and drive to the Jeep Haus.

Why are y’all having to clip your seatbelts every time your ass hits the seat to move to and through the open gate?? Is it a manual transmission thing??

Doing good brother….. it’s a trying to just move with the door open thing ….I just put half my ass on the seat while left leg and ass dangle, put in drive go through hop out and shut gate etc…. I sometimes have to go through a few on the same driveway at some of my jobs/friends spots…I guess you’re not leaving your door open while driving through is the difference….Or yours is broken… in a good way..🤣

Yeah brother…I’ve been going through gates all my life with the door a few inches open. The JLUs broke me of that habit.šŸ˜‚

What I’m not getting is Mike slammed the door shut each time, AND buckled his belt. Why the belt-buckling? @2nd 392 ?

Yup. Seat belt extender. Also makes it easier to reach and undo the seatbelt
