I'm able to upload my music to Youtube Music and play it on Android auto. I don't have any kind of subscription. When they first released Youtube Music, there was a bug that though AA required the subscription. It has since been fixed. Not a big fan of Youtube Music, but I'm too lazy to install a third party app and redo my playlists.I have a modern Samsung phone running Android.
My Jeep runs android auto.
I use it for maps, phone calls and TXT messages.
On my desktop PC I have Apple iTunes. I have bought songs.
I used "copy and paste" to copy songs to my phone.
If I try to play the songs through Android auto, Google does not allow it. I refuse to pay a subscription to "Youtube Music" to play my songs.
So, instead, I copy and paste the songs to a USB stick and then play my songs through Jeep Uconnect.
When I am walking, I play the songs on my phone via a third party app.
